I came into work tonight to be told that we are all being replaced on this site by.....a single pcso who will spend 2-3hrs a day on site rather than having a 5 man team doing 24hrs security on a rota......The landlords believe this will deter shoplifters and chavs from comin onto site!!!!....HOW? we do a lot of behind scenes work here...Even though i`m just nights at the moment i was hoping to progress to days and get learning more and more thus making me a better security officer...Ah well i`ll just have to start looking around and try an get sumat to pay the bills for the time being

Could be a similar arrangment to our local hospital -- they have 3 PCSO's whose sole "beat" is the hospital and grounds --- naturally the hospital subs their salaries ( and then some I guess)

No james i`m not employed by the police and as far as i understand it the landlords are going to pay his/hers wages or put towards them and they believe that will be a bigger deterrant plus they can always get an out side firm to monitor cctv feeds from the site.....

cctv....apparantly......dunno how they will check the blind spots though...its all cost cutting at the end of the day i suppose 1 pcso`s wage at approx £21000 or 5 security guards at £15000 to £18000 a year... just gotta wait now and see when it happens.... life goes on i`ll pick meself up and fight on.....at least i dont work for comet anymore

AS long as it is a facelift - just the front end - some HID headlights would be nice

PCSO's on £21k a year?

In my county, that's what a probationer Constable starts on - PCSO's get around 17k, IIRC...
