Hand washing falls into the same category as not coughing or sneezing at people and has been an ingrained expectation for as long as I can remember.
and wearing a mask in public is now ALSO a common courtesy now  ;)

Not wishing to breathe in cement dust or lead paint flakes is also common sense, although smoking is probably more dangerous than anything else you are trying to avoid which rather makes everything else moot as you'll probably end up in hospital anyways.

Like I said, if it makes you feel better then that's fine but preaching whilst smoking would be somewhat hypocritical...  ;)

The only people who set out to go to hospital are drug addicts with no money.

Like I said ,wearing masks protects other people  ::)
It's not about me feeling better  :-X

as for Smoking , smokers are less likely to be ill with covid than non smokers or people who quit smoking last I heard  ;D

I'm not preaching , follow whichever religion or don't  ;D

I imagine I will get ill one day ,go to hospital ,even die one day  :P

I just choose NOT to get run over by the Covid bus if possible  ,or throw other people under it

I wear a mask

(as per the thread title )

Your choice, but how far down this route do you go?

You know that probably 5-10%  of the population will continue to wear a mask 10 years from now because they are naturally neurotic and fearful of just about everything.

Do you wait until the last of these remove their mask before you do?......because some people never will.
Ah well....at least they'll still be alive in ten years  ;D

And we can call the 155,613 people to date who did die due to Covid  'the dead dead'   ::)

Most of those currently off work are doing so because they are legally obliged to be isolating (regardless of whether they are actually unfit)

I would have returned to work after four days if it had been anything other than TCV but ended up doing the full ten days because I kept testing positive. Of all four of my colleagues who had it at the same time, only one was able to return to work at Day 7.

Why the long discussion about masks ? Some folk will wear them & some won't it certainly won't worry me one way or the other , I'll do what I think is right and everyone is entitled to that way of thinking.

Have to agree on that :y

I certainly will not be wearing a mask again when going around our huge Sainsbury’s ;)

Official figures say 534  people died with Covid today, and 88000 new cases !
Of course many of them will have had serious underlying issues and probably would have died regardless, but if they are using the same methodology as they have all along, then numbers are very much on the rise again.
A few months ago the number of deaths daily was regularly well below 100.
Another lockdown soon ?

It was 112 thousand new cases the day before .
the 534 death number is an adjusted number, presumably they found some unrecorded deaths  :-\
death figures in 28 days are no longer a good way to show what is going on with Covid.
you are much more likely to die post 28 days if seriously effected by Covid now ,or suffer "long Covid"
(new treatments etc mean you can be kept alive longer)
There will be a percentage of people off work, claiming benefits with Covid or long covid for the foreseeable I imagine .
The return to school / work and the scrapping of mask wearing etc will result in another upturn in cases .

I hope we don't get a mutation more deadly now we have mutations that spread like wildfire  :o
lets hope Omicron doesn't weaponize now it's everywhere unchecked  ::)

The Spanish government narrowly voted for us all ( including tourists) to continue wearing masks in outside spaces ( as well as of course in shops etc). Narrowly because the vote was for a package of measures including pension reform.

There is an exception. Those of us living in rural situations without close proximity to others don’t need to wear a mask. When we go to town on a shopping trip , it is like visiting a war zone!

I don't know how the US calculates its death figures for coronavirus, but it's well on the way towards 1,000,000.

In the UK it is a quickly diminishing minority who are still wearing masks now, including many staff in all types of shops, and certainly I have stopped using one. I am breathing again!  Back to being British :D ;)

That last comment is backed up after seeing an obviously Asian (probably Chinese or Japanese) driving along in their car wearing full masks, as they do in those lands, for better or worse. ;)

Mutations tend to get less deadly rather than more deadly. :)

The 'lurgy' was never really that deadly to begin with.
