The problem is that the whole Russian cultural infrastructure is driven by an overwhelming self belief and a falsly promoted concept of immense threat from "The West " .
It's classic propaganda driven control of the population to keep them in fear and therefore support of the cabal of leaders who have carved a very comfortable niche out for them selves at the expense of the largly poverty stricken and ill educated populace .
The total control of the media and internet tightens their grip and prevents the vast majority of seeing anything but what is best suited to the masters .
I'm not sure where this episode of life is taking us but can see a egotistical ,deluded and very dangerous man being denied everything he has arrogantly demanded from the world to fuel his own megalomaniac desires.
I don't believe that he will feel the need to stop his murderous ,barbaric onslaught even when he is inevitably forced into a corner . It's conceivable that he could announce to the people of the RF that, in his own belief , they would be better dead than westernised .
If he retains control I think it's inevitable that low yield tactical nuclear weapons will be used in Ukraine as he has no other option but to raise the stakes in this game .
The civilised world will not allow him to succeed in the destruction and demise of a democratically functioning country on their doorstep.
Russia is a lost cause under the present regime and it will take decades to steer them away from isolationism and the belief that everyone is less worthy than themselves and therefore should be crushed.
I think we missed an immense opportunity when the USSR collapsed.
They cannot comprehend that their country is an absolute shit hole that no one really wants and was it not for their nuclear weapon(s) they would be considered a lying ,untrustworthy irrelevance and ignored by the civilised world .
I hope that there is some way out of this runaway train scenario and they are ostracised into oblivion for decades.
