I think she’s trying her best and I hope she succeeds, and,  if she does I will offer to shag her👍

Is it bad that I think Rwanda is a good idea also...........
Yes. Very bad.  You're showing your liberal leftie side...

...TB for President.  I'll show them a proper deterrent.

TBH, how can anyone claim asylum in the UK.  They should claim it in the first safe country, then use the official methods to move to other countries.

Because the UK is seen as the nicer option with the best benefits.

Look at the shit storm over the detention centre, if where they have come from is so bad then a few months there will be plain sailing with food, water and basic shelter on tap

I have always said, we have two options, make life for an assylum seeker in the UK harder than that in France, or get our hands in our pockets, pay more tax and suck it up.....

I dont buy that tbh. We are told that employers in hospitality, farming and many other relatively low skilled industries have a dire shortage of workers. They blame Brexit and it causing the end of an almost infinite supply of low skilled / low paid workers.

There is an issue that employers aren't paying enough for people to do certain jobs (supply and demand working not the way they want it to). But, the number of over 65's went up about 23% from 2009 to 2019, vs an overall population increase (including the 'mass immigration' everyone gets so worked up about) of 7%. The government reckons that in 20yrs time 25% of the uk population will be over 65 - 17.4m people.

Even if you could manage to turf everyone off employment benefit and into jobs that are well paid enough fpr them to pay a reasonable level of tax, you can't bridge the gap without a lot of immigration. Particularly while every government remains obsessed with the triple lock on pensions, which even a simpleton can see isn't sustainable in the long term.

Under almost any circumstances the vast majority of immigrants will be of the low skills variety. They will pay little or no tax with many having their meagre earnings topped up by tax credits which the tax payer will need to source.

The Tories may not like people turning up on the South coast in rubber boats but they do love the cheap labour they provide.

The Tory party has been wedded to cheap low skill labour for as long as I can remember. Not good. :-X

Is that true or just a soundbite?

How many low skill workers in the uk could find their way to say Syria, Afghanistan or an African country? How many having done their travelling would have say 2000 shekels for a sea crossing at the hands of smugglers? I suspect you need resilience and initiative to undertake such a journey.

It would be interesting to see breakdowns of language skills, education level etc.

I doubt there  are large numbers of Doctors, teachers, engineers......etc...etc arriving in rubber boats or clinging to the underside of the Eurostar.

Such people would be able to arrive here using appropriate methods perfectly legally.

Approx. half of those arriving now are young men from Albania. They will joining in the organised crime groups (the majority of these in the UK are now run by Albanians) producing and distributing drugs among other illegal profit making ventures,, and running "Turkish" barber shops to launder the criminal money through.

A 'Turkish' barber shop has recently sprung up near here.

I rarely see anyone having their hair cut, but I bet the accounts show healthy income and expenditure.

Especially allowable expenditure.   :-X

A few " dodgy" foreign shops sprung up in town here over the last few years, very rarely see anyone in them but I have seen suitcases being taken from the boot of a Bentley & placed in the boot of an Aston Martin twice when out walking the dog in the evening.

That I can believe.  Great way to get established in a target country.
