If you catch the flu this season.....
« on: 05 December 2022, 09:05:04 »

.....watch out!
I have been in bed since Thursday evening and I still feel bad. Different bad since Thursday, but still bad. Started with a sore windpipe at teatime and, by nine o'clock was in full blown high temperature delirium mode. Constantly coughing, no idea what time/day it was. Friday is gone from my memory. Mo went to work (she has to) and the next time I remember seeing her was when I asked for some toast for breakfast and she told me it was seven o'clock Friday evening, not Saturday morning. She had cleaned the bathroom where I thought I had been for a pee but obviously lost my bearings  :-[
Coughing continued Saturday, until my rib cage was constantly painful but, all in all, a better day with lower temperature and able to eat stuff I fancied. Cakes, ginsters pasty, etc. Yesterday, I thought I was getting better and was making plans for today. Mo said I was an idiot (not for the first time) and that younger, fitter people at work were going down for a week with it and still looked like shit when they came back.
Had a strange, nightmarish night last night and today is the scariest day so far. Every half hour or so, the room starts spinning, my whole body tingles and I feel sick. Could do with someone to hold my hand  :(
I am a worrier, and I have things to do and people relying on me to do the day to day menial tasks like shopping and cooking, but I can't. So now I feel guilty as well as ill.

If you catch it, look after yourself. It probably won't kill you, but it feels like it might.

Had my flu jab weeks ago, so don't rely on that.

That's why I don't have the flu jab.

Mum was rough for a week after hers. Can only think that there might be a reaction to the TCV jabs... Was fine after the first two (AZ) , but the booster (Pfizer) was pretty horrible, not helped by catching TCV on top of it. Fortunately that only lasted a few days.

Have either of you tested for TCV :-\

Sounds awful Steve, we've both had our flu jabs as well a few weeks ago, only ever had flu once thankfully but wasn't anything like you are describing, take care & certainly don't feel guilty if you're feeling that bad just rest up.

You need to get yourself another dog. Bit of fresh air and a good walk is what you need lad!  :D

Get well soon!  :)

Did a Covid test btw, which was negative as expected. Not a flu or booster jab reaction as I had them months ago.
Just an annoying winter bug that seems to be taking its time to disappear.

I'd second that, we walk for at least an hour every day, we both had Covid at the end of July no worse than a heavy cold but we kept our routine up & ate well throughout+ plenty of fluids & we were fine within a few days, us old folk are made tough  Steve so kick the bug up its arse !

I go out walking every day, but no intention of getting another dog. I go out when I want to, not when dog wants to  :y

Annoying is the word, Albs. These things just don't bother us when we're younger, but I just know it'll take the best part of ten days/two weeks before I'm fully operational again. Keep yer pecker up, old lad.  ;D

We had an appointment with her mates every morning. My dog walking became quite a social event and I met a lot of good people over the eleven years we were together.

Every time we've lost one of our dogs we always say that we'll have a break before we get another, but within a couple of weeks I feel that my whole routine has gone so  off to Boxer rescue we go for a " replacement" . Buddy is at my feet as I'm composing this as we're off out walking.
