Just ring them up, tell them it's £209 or you'll go elsewhere. Then do it.

They always charge ' lazy bastards' more.

They think if you can't be bothered to shop around then you deserve to pay more.

I've been with this lot for years and whenever I've had to call them out they've arrived promptly and I've had no complaints.  :y

The only thing to be aware of is that although the premium is cheap, you pay a £40 excess if you call them out.

I am now an AA member (well, in a couple of days, when the RAC runs out), and got a new member deal.  I thought the government had banned discounted deals for new insurance policies now? Surely breakdown cover is an insurance policy?

Personally, I couldn't care less, as the legislation is to assist the gormless, so I'd always shop around anyway.

Skrunts, ring them, pick the "I want to leave the AA" option, and see what they offer you.  You should be able to get close to the new member option.

I use them for euro trips :)

Just done a quote for me and her as personal members, with £40 excess, and about £20 cheaper than AA (with no excess).  Without excess, its more than I paid for AA,  so I'll let the AA one start and re-evaluate in a year :y

Not against their modest excess, so could work for us.  But I can't rely on RAC-esque apathy if she breaks down on the M40 on the way to work, and I'm staying away...
