I had an Art teacher who punished us by whacking us really hard across the arse with a Plimsole.
It took a lot of self control not to cry like a baby after six of those.  ::)
The good old days, eh.  :D ;D

It was more painful if they missed your arse and instead hit you across the back of your legs at the top with the pump/trainer

That could leave you bruised for weeks.

My old mum called it 'character building' ::)

Until just under a year ago I had never been on regular Meds in my life.
Then I got put on two blood pressure tablets a day.
Then a third BP tablet was added.
A couple of weeks ago I was put on tablets to shrink the Prostate.
Today the GP called to say he wants me to go on Statins.
Five fickin tablets a day !  :o
Im starting to wonder if its all really necessary.  :-\
Finasteride? They seem to be working for me. Try and change ya diet and so avoid the statins. The buggers wiped me out.

Not nice but… our headmaster had a cut drainage rod with the old type pink plaster in each side, he also had an eye disease called nystagmus, it is when you’re eyes go back and fore  like Richard Osman he couldn’t help but hit you all over your hand the end of your fingers being the worse, Honestly I’ve never seen anything more intimidating than that combination, he was also 63ish when I was there six of the best in front of 360 people at 9.05 just before assembly that got you singing 😡there was always ‘one for luck’, obviously you could not cry, in actual truth if I had a chance I would have definitely killed him on one or two times with him if only I had a slight chance, thank fu,, I didn’t.

Tamsulosin for me.
My diet isnt bad tbh. Lots of fresh fruit & veg from the garden. Home cooking by swmbo, very little fast food or fry ups etc.
I do avoid chicken & fish most of the time though as I dont like them.
Could do with more exercise I think, but arthritis in various joints makes that difficult.
As does a lack of energy, probably from working long night shifts.
I think I will give the Stains a 3 month trial and see how it goes.
Its no fun getting old.  ::)

Doctor and pharmacist were adamant about putting me on Rapamil 🤔 for my high blood pressure...

That's great, I said, but what about my elevated cholesterol,.pre diabetes, shortness of breath and ED?

Surely if I lost a couple of stone or three, then everything goes away rather than treating the result of one thing...

That's a very good point say they ::)

So I countered with instead of that plan, would Mounjaro be a reasonable approach?

Yes they said...

6 weeks later and more or less a stone lighter. Which is nice.

and various similar comments make me want to avoid them too ..... but my daughter (who is a nurse) disagrees cos her mate's dad died at my age despite being active etc etc

No direct experience myself but what I've heard is that if they try you on the cheap brands first and they cause side-effects, keep pestering them for the more expensive variants which are fine, apparently.

I've been on Atorvastatin for about five years. No side effects at all.

Was put on Simvastatin at first and was olk It was then deemed unsafe so was changed over to Atorvastatin and they really screwed me up. Now managing to keep the cholesterol in check, esp the "bad" LDL stuff, with a healthy diet. Managing to walk around 6 miles when i go for a walk, which is about 3 or 4 times a week.
