£45 to get my teeth "sand blasted" on the NHS, only took 5mins as well. Robbiin *******

€75 (£64)  over here in SW Ireland on Thursday , private and also 5 mins work .
After four crowns and a new part denture this year he welcomes me like a long lost brother ..........

I'd be delighted  to go back to my old NHS Dentist . .....

My NHS dentist retired a couple of years ago and they haven't replaced him.  :-\

Guess I'll have to sign up with a private dentist, before I have to get the pliers out!  ::)  :)
We could have an OOF meet and all pull each others teeth out  ;D
You joke, but an old supervisor of mine used to do just that :-X

Been feeling a bit meh since roasting on the beach on Thursday, and put it down to sunstroke, but have also been quite short of breath so planned to give the Quack a bell at some point...

And as the first question they ask if you present with anything from a bruised toe upwards is have you done a COVID test... I figured that I should probably preempt the question.

Obviously it came back positive  >:(

I thought testing was finished. Didn't even think you could get hold of a test now.
Apparently, there's a lot of it about, get well soon.

Ah, not good. The joys of your job I guess, mingling with thousands of unknown people. Hope it’s just a short term bout of it and you’re soon on the mend.  :y

Ta both. ;)

It was the breathlessness that concerned me, but it does explain a few things. Feel somewhere between an ambiguous throat and a spot of hay fever wrapped up fluffy ball of asthma. Did have a brief stabbing headache when I got back to the hotel this morning, but that was quite short-lived.

Should be done with it in short order, but Mother is having an op in a couple of weeks, so need to keep put of her way.

Re the test, it is an older kit, but the result was pretty instantaneous and it's more likely to be accurate than not.

The only reasons to park in the short stay are ignorance or laziness.
I use it ;D

To be honest, its only about 25% more than the long stay, and save pissing around with the buses and lugging cases on and off them

North Terminal is agreeably a bit more of a faff, but I have always used it. I used to use the Premium Short stay when I was taxi driving, but it was a lot more reasonable then than it is now... £6 an hour iirc. I used to swallow the first hour as it was cheaper than the fuel wasted and stress dicking around trying to pick someone up from the drop off area.

Biggest issue today apart from the Stuffies, was that the T Wats at Menzies in Las Palmas managed to load the priority bags first so they were last off. And whilst the bag had a sizeable pop out dent in it, it actually made it both ways*... Which was nice.

*If Simon 'I couldn't clean planes properly so I became a journalist' Calder could be believed, you'd think you'd be more likely to be hit by the car park bus having survived a plane crash than getting your luggage back :-X

Could always go to Turkey apparently " Turkey teeth" are all the rage according to our daughter..😂

My sister in law returned from Turkey yesterday after having her teeth " done " .
She was on wattsapp last Friday showing my wife her new smile , I glanced over her shoulder and told her to turn the contrast down as it would hurt her eyes .
I can only think that Turkey have invented a new colour that goes way beyond white in the colour spectrum .

I try and avoid the place, but a fair percentage of our passengers to/from Turkey are there to have work done. The results are generally as horrendous as you would expect  :-X

'Lovely Dave' (so called because he calls every one Love ... both men & women) is a contractor at work, he has pulled a few of his own teeth, usually with pliers from his tool box - he does sterilise them first by wiping them under his sweaty arm pit!  ;D

British Gas
Sent me an (outrageously inflated >:() estimated gas meter reading while I was out of the country. I sent them an actual reading as soon as I was able to. The reading was rejected. >:(

BG then switched to a 'new system' and finalised the accounts on the old system using the inflated estimate. >:(

I have had multiple phone calls with the BG call centre. They can see what the problem is but they don't have access to the old system and each time promise to get someone with access to the old system to fix it. EVERY TIME they promise yet it still isn't fixed. >:(

In the forlorn hope that smart meters might prevent future problems I agreed to have smart meters fitted (the meters needed replacing anyway due to their age). First appointment I waited all afternoon but no show. Second appointment he fitted the meters but couldn't get a signal so left me with dumb meters. The only positive was that a BG employee had taken an actual reading (took the whole bloody meter). Left me with the recommendation that I call BG and ask for a 'Mesh + T2' module to get the comms working. FFS  :(

Phoned BG for an appointment to fit a 'Mesh + T2' module. 'I can't do that, we need to wait 28 days for the readings to come through'. But you won't get any readings without comms!!!!!!!!!!! Gave up. Put a reminder in my diary.

A few days later the electricity meter connected to the network. Not sure when exactly as I wasn't given a display  :-\

After 28 days I called again. 'Sorry, don't have any appointments available, can you call back in two weeks?'

Two weeks later I called & got an appointment for Monday (yesterday). Different installer turned up. I explained about the lack of signal. 'I've got a signal' he says and proceeds to work through the configuration process.

I now have functioning smart meters for electricity and gas  :) It has been pissing down with rain for days, wondering if they will carry on working if the rain stops..............

Today I tried to contact BG about the estimated reading (and failed) so I paid for the actual usage & didn't pay the extra £500. I suppose will need to spend another hour on the phone tomorrow  :( trying to get resolution  >:(
