But Ford will be trying to push junk on the back of a name that had a following, much like Vauxhall tried with the particularly crap Viva.
Not as crap as the original Viva, fortunately.
Never drove one, but Grandma had one when I was a nipper, and it seemed nice enough. I still remember she called it Queenie, no idea why.
But I have driven a modern Viva, and cannot believe the original was any more crap. But maybe I have rose tinted glasses...
...my first car was a Triumph Acclaim, one of Grandma's cast offs that was going ridiculously cheap, cheap to insure, had a bit of poke to it compared to other insurable stuff, and was in immaculate condition despite its age. I thought, suspect handling aside, it was the mutts nuts as a young, free, reckless, boy-racing yoof. Then, a few years ago, Tunnie and I saw one at the local scrappy, so I had to go and sit in it, and what a disappointment! Talk about rose tinted specs
. But still have fond memories of my first car, and the antics....
