Just been looking through the XJS 4.0 versions on fleabay.  If my pockets were deeper I reckon it would be hard work stopping myself in buting one.  even though they are totally stupid on fuel and service/running costs.

If I win the lottery I think I would treat myself

We had one for a while...excellent motorway/A road car, and easily  got 24mpg from it (3.6 Auto).  Everyone thinks of them as the little brother, but still bleedin quick!  The kickdown was something else..haunches down and growling...

Paid 1200 - sold it 6 months later for 650.  Granted, fuel had gone up 20% in that time, but it was still MoT'd!

Bad points?  You'll struggle with it it you're no between 5'6" and 6'..wifey is 5'1" and i'm 6'2" - neither of us could ever get comfirtable in it - plus turning circle is terrible!  Forget trying to park in a Supermarket car park...it won't happen..

unless you get the supercharged 4 litre straight 6 lump..... its fantastic and scared the poop out of me!

I had a go in a 5.3 when they first came out and could not believe how quiet it was, then a few yeaars later I nearly bought a 5.3 Manual that I had a go in (bought a Sylvia Turbo (BN) and bought a Daimler Soverein as a second car to they to make me feel better for not having the XJS.

Then a while back I drove a 3.6 and was impressed wih the straight 6, but was taking it to have the boot and rear valance leaded and repainted due to rot, not a very old cr as it was, but was enough to put me off till now.

3.8 mill. hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder what id do with that. put a contract out on brown, nice boat and just keep gowin around the world for a few yrs. and miss sunday to saturday to keep me occupied
