This is quite a long read from @admcollingwood on X, but I think it's a good analysis of what Labour might do if they win the election.  :y

I think you mean when they win the election

Yes you're right, but I live in hope that Labour will mess it all up before July 4th.  ::)

It's bizarre that the British people seem so hell bent on punishing the Tories that they haven't reallly considered how bad the alternative might be. We're sleep walking into disaster in my opinion.  :(

There is the potential for things to get completely out of control.

Almost 900 actually.  ;)
The one thing Labour wil do, without a doubt, is to start the process of taking us back into the EU.
They will deny they are doing it. The line will be its to have good friendly relations etc.
If they win a second term they will move heaven and earth to take us back in during that term.
Also, I give it two years before they start raiding our private pension pots again, just like Gormless Brown did.  :'(
They will more than likely make people who work beyond state pension age pay national insurance, and of course Im 16 months away from my pension age, but planning on working until Im 70, at least in part due to the big chunk of my pension they robbed last time they got the chance.  >:(
Theres no stopping it happening though. Its a foregone conclusion.

Here's the thing...

Have spent a few pints with a lifelong Labour supporter (who has a degree in American Studies) and a life long Conservative voter who is adamant that he will vote labour.

I don't claim to be politically motivated, but I know what I have seen over the years and I trust my instinct on it even if I don't fully understand why I think what I think.

My initial response to the poll was to vote Conservative. My instinct is to stand by that, and here's why...

My local MP has held a reasonable account of himself, and whilst he is a a Conservative candidate, he personally has some merit. So, as my parliamentary representative, he deserves to carry on as such.

I cannot ignore the niggling bells from reading the Reform manifesto that it wouldn't be out of place in 1930s Germany or Austria, very reasonable but with distinct undertones. And that doesn't sit well.

I will never vote for Labour, ever because I know that I am not a Socialist or Communist. And as long as they seek to play Robin Hood, they will achieve nothing positive. Especially whilst they live the high life whilst claiming to represent the working classes.

I may not be a particularly successful capitalist, but I appreciate the concept agree with it fundamentally. I work for what I have and begrudge paying to support those who rip the arse out of the system simply because it's there.

In short, whilst the Tories deserve a damn good shit kicking, and management change, I will vote for my Conservative candidate based on his form rather than an unknown and unproven band wagon subscriber. Put another way, were he to stand as an independent, I would still vote for him.

Take a closer look at the Reform press images... For an unelected bunch, they've some smug tinkers in their front ranks.

Comparing Reform to the Nazis is beyond ludicrous.  :o
If your MP is a good constituency MP then I would vote for him by all means. Thats what its supposed to be about after all. Its just that many of them seem to forget that small fact.
Personally I think that anyone who votes Labour for any reason needs to have a serious talk with themselves, or get put on stronger meds.
Most who vote Labour wont really be supporting them, but determined to get rid of the current lot.
As much as anything because theyve just been there too long, and not done much good while they were there.
We are about to get a Govt. that very few people actually want.

Not suggesting that they are the Nazi Party, just that I sensed an undertone to some of the phrasing within parts of their manifesto that doesn't sit right for me. I can't quite put a finger on it, but equally I can't ignore it ;)
