I have just checked my Barclaycard account to see where I am this month. I noticed a pending transaction for £2.99 for Amazon. That amount rang a bell but I was sure I hadn't ordered anything. I checked my Amazon account and I had placed an item for £2.99 in my basket, but decided it wasn't worth ordering alone so I'd save it until I ordered something else. I placed in my 'save for later' section.
So, it appears to me, that the minute you place an item in your basket, whether you go ahead and buy it or not, they place the amount on your card account. I'm expecting it to drop off after a few days, but it still stops that money being available to spend. Tvvats..
