GB News
« on: 18 June 2024, 19:18:49 »

Pretty much since the election was called I've had trouble watching GB News on my laptop via the website.  :-\

It continually freezes with the circle of death and sometimes the site won't even load. All other news sites work fine.  ::)

I've cleared all the cookies a couple of times and did a system restore, but no difference.  :-\

Anyone else had this?  ???

Could be a million and one things - start by trying another device, but could be issues outside of your control...

It's weird. It seems to be an issue with the website as it happens on all my devices, apart from my phone where I watch via the app.  :-\

I can watch and stream stuff from other news sites and Youtube without any problems.

Well...  With my tinfoil helmet on I did wonder if there was some ort of interference so we're forced to absorb the usual leftist mush during the run up to the election.  :)

What ISP? Also, do you know who provides the GB News stream?

Vodafone.  I'm just out of contract, so another tin foil helmet thought is that they see what I download and are throttling it to encourage me to do something. Anything.  ::)

No don't know who provides the GB News stream.  :-\

Voda fixed line (ie, not mobile)?  And is it Openreach provided?

Some ISPs have peering arrangements that work better with some services than others, and that depends where the content is fed from.

Voda (fixed line) aren't one of those ISPs forced by law to restrict certain sites, so doubt it's intentional. Nor do I think they would degrade your connection - quite the opposite!

Martin Daubney currently discussing a 'super majority' for the Labour party of 382 seats.......roughly twice that of Blair in 1997. :o :o :o :o

The Tory party is completely f*ucked. I doubt even God himself can save them now. ::)

Personally I doubt the majority is going to be that big. The Tories really are finished though.
Gone from that big majority at the last election to having no chance of wining this one. Being too scared to be conservatives is costing them dearly.
Trying to be everything to everyone, leaves you as nothing to anyone.

Yes Voda fixed line and yes Openreach.  :y

I'll either renew my contract or switch and see if that makes a difference. Of course if I switch, it will be a couple of weeks until the new provider kicks in.  ::)

No landline either....  :-\   Not that I need one TBH.  :)

Well sort of...

It plays OK if I leave it on the little screen on the website and turn the sound on, as long as I leave the GB News tab open.

It will freeze again if I open a different tab, leaving GB News going in the background, but I can unfreeze it by going back to the GB News tab and swiping the cursor over the little screen.

That suggests to me that it's something with my laptop, but strange that it only happens with GB News.  :-\
