Part I bought last week is faulty.  They say I have to buy another, whilst mine is sent back to JLR, who then send it back to supplier, who then have 2 months to test.  So gonna be 3 months before I learn if they will refund it.

self-abusers.

Exceptionally poor form, and not in line with UK consumer law (unless you bought it trade of course in which case that doesn't apply).

Call your credit card company and say they've refused to issue you a refund?

Steve - I have had my V90 Inscription for 5 years now and definitely best car I have had. See whether you can get a decent warranty out of the dealer. Careful check on where it is up to on service history. Good luck

Oh.....and I learned a valuable lesson last time I visited this site, when it was the car people before sytner select. Before any money at all changes hands, I need to see, and test, the wheel nut key and physically see the service history.
.

Cash seems to be king , certainly seemed like it when I bought the Toyota recently kept my cool & got spare wheel kit worth £309 number plates in readiness for the plate transfer worth £24 + ceramic coating & internal protection for the fabrics another £370 otherwise I was prepared to walk away, then got £200 off the 3 year service plan.
As a rule now, cash is far from king.  Firstly, they make more off the finance, and secondly, it's quite expensive to the seller to handle cash compared to other methods.

I note that above the separate door to parts is "Trade Parts", so they probably say all parts are sold under trade conditions.

I think Mick meant buying without finance, not actual pound notes

Yes that's correct gave £1,000 deposit by credit card once the deal had been agreed & then bank transfer the day before collection, Listers will only except £1,000 by card due to the money laundering aspect , according to what I was told by the sales guy only 7 percent now pay in full when purchasing , the rest are loans/PCP agreements. He wouldn't budge on the screen price but I was more than happy with all the odds & sods I got with the car.

If a garage had fitted it they'd have recourse to the parts supplier in the same way you should.

How many miles on the Astra now Steve? Don't know much about Volvos couple of guys who I used to work with had them and thought they were great cars especially for towing , service history is important with them I believe. Got to be worth taking a look have you checked the MOT history?
77000 on the Astra, Mick. Been to Liverpool and back today in it and it's still running fine. Just an itch that needs scratching, and when there's eff all on the telly, I am strangely drawn to autotrader  :)
You need another, cheaper, favourite website ;D

My OH had a 2016 s60. Hers was the D2, so a total slug, but apart from that it was a nice car. Interior was very comfortable and felt well screwed together - better quality feel than my mate's Mondeo of the same age and much better than our current galaxy in that regard (although to be fair to it the galaxy is a generation older).

190bhp diesel will be more than quick enough for daily use. I'd say go for it  :y.

When I was a young lad 100BHP made a performance saloon. Doesn't sound much these days but cars didn't weigh as much as the Titanic back then. :)

even so, the money is made on extras - finance, coatings, warranties etc - so sometimes you get a better options and deals....    ...dont assume that buying outright will get best price :)

This...

When I bought my first XFR they told me I could have interest free finance, so there was no need to pay cash.

When the invoice came through they had added almost £4000 of worthless options that I had not asked for.

When I insisted they they remove them they suddenly decided finance was now 6.9%.

Car dealers are just fundamentally dishonest. :-\

I paid for both of our Audi’s outright by balance transfer and I was shocked at how hard the Audi dealership tried to push PCP. It wasn’t the sales girl pushing it, it was her boss. He pushed it so hard that we walked out of the showroom and said we’d buy elsewhere. He followed us out and apologised so we did make the purchases.
Although the screen price was technically non-negotiable, they did adjust it to include paint cover and ceramic coating, which they obviously get commission on. I’d said no to everything if it meant the screen price went up but I left having signed up for paint protection and ceramic coating at no extra cost.  :y
I think the art of buying is to genuinely not care if you buy that car or not, then they have zero leverage.  :y

The little turds just can't help themselves.

There was a time when they used to sell cars. But as TB says these days they are really selling finance and other assorted crap.
