Ah, is that why I keep getting the repeated messages ‘Urgent, your electricity meter certification has expired. DO NOT ignore this message and book an appointment for a smart meter now’.
……….

I received a call from EON this morning regarding my out of date meter certification. I explained that they’d had two attempts at fitting a smart meter but both attempts had failed the ping test, so only worked in dumb mode. Both times they removed the new meter and refitted my old meter.
The lady was very understanding and agreed to remove me from the ‘smart’ notifications caller list, emails and text contact list, which she said lasts for 6 months. After the 6 months they have to do the same again.
We shall see how that goes  ::)  but should I be concerned about my out of date certification.  ;D
Most of us on here are out of date  ;D

When Labour bring in their Assisted Dying Act  or probably more accurately Killing Old People Off Act, I wonder if they'll start tattooing an expiry date on new borns.   ::)

Think of the money they'd save in pensions, the NHS and care!  :)

Sounds like something out of a sci fi novel, but imagine it's your 65th birthday, there's a knock on the door....

" Hello, Uncle STEMO? It's your expiry day and we're from the Department of Expirations. Would you come with us please, the Expiry Van is just over there. No.... We won't take long and it's nothing to worry about! "    >:D

We do have a pensions problem in this country.

Far too many old people, and far too few people of working age to fund the pensions.

It's only going to get worse. :-X

They should encourage people to have kids via the tax system. IE, the more kids you have, the less tax you pay.  :y
That's not gonna help me now, is it?  ;D

Why?  Are you not planning on having anymore kids?  :-\  ::)  ;D
I've done my bit. Three wives, three sons.....do I get more pension now?  :)

Nope, you'll be lucky to keep the one you have.  ::)

I don't think the budget will be as bad as they're making out. Besides, wifey got a 5.5% pay rise out of them.

They already do that, unfortunately the same families tend not to work. Ever. So they don't actually pay anything into the system.

I was obviously thinking about people who work and pay taxes.   Scumbags should get sterilised...... on the NHS!  :)

Not everyone has the time to wade through a long Telegraph article and then there's the paywall.  :P
Fair enough. I read a long read might strain your puny brain, so I apologise unreservedly.  ;D

A few years back they spent a fortune bringing Aberthaw power station up to the latest emission specs only to close it recently. What a bunch of idiots wasting money that way and destroying possible emergency generation when critically needed.
