Johnnydog (and others).
« on: 12 October 2024, 02:35:39 »

You are just tying to justify your unnecessary responses to simple questions about the part numbers for self levelling rear  shock absorbers. I posted a link to assist with that, but you have to fire in with your responses about different products that are not a suitable replacement in many ways, and not what the OP asked....
Incidentally, your initial post with the NOS and GLWT ( ::)) hadn't a smiley face - the smiley faces were posted in later replies.
What does trigger me is your condescending attitude, and your  back pedalling by trying to turn the situation around when you have been shown to be wrong, or there actually is another solution to the point in question.
I hope you are not as annoying to passengers whilst you are pushing that trolley up and down the aisle trying to sell tea and coffee....  :)
Are you done?

75 previous posts on this thread, only six of which are yours, and only one actually of any constructive purpose, the rest focused on bashing me.

And, for the record, (not that I actually care what you think), but if my employer choses to sell some items on short haul flights, that's up to them. If people buy them or not makes no difference to my day.

Unless you're trying to imply something about me by way of my occupation... :-X

What would I be trying to imply (if that was the case, which it wasn't)? I was just wondering if you are as abrupt and generally less than helpful to the passengers / customers during your working day as you are on here.
If you are reading something into it, then maybe I have touched a nerve? Take a step back and just look at your attitude on here, and maybe you can come out of it as a better person. I'm not the only person on here that thinks your whole attitude stinks, but there's just the handful of OOFers that make their observations regarding it known.
Anyway, I'd rather get back on topic about the original question about the part numbers for self levelling GM shockers rather than get a slap on the wrist ( ;)) from admin for being naughty.....
I wasn't going to respond to this, but...

For someone who has never met me, you are making some incredibly baseless judgements against my character and work ethic.

Sure, you can disagree about how other people might answer queries here on the forum or even with what posts, but our only interaction is within the context of this forum and much of that is you criticising something I have posted or the apparent manner in which it's posted or simply because I posted it. The constant back and forth is draining and unnecessary.

I have a suggestion...

If someone posts a question and someone posts something that you don't agree with, rather than taking the time to post something derogatory, "Helpful as ever ::)" and nothing by way of alternative suggestions or clarification for example, try posting something more constructive such as actual suggestions/solutions.

Perhaps then we can move on and maybe even rekindle some of what this forum was meant to represent.

I've carefully considered this approach and, I'm afraid, I just can't see the fun in it at all. Maybe it's just me  :)

You posted Steve before I got my reply as the 1st reply....!

In response to Dr Gollums post...
Precisely! You have just suggested the proper response for questions which are sometimes not necessarily your (or even mine) way of thinking on this forum is to post something more constructive with alternative suggestions or solutions!!!
This is basically what I (and others) have constantly been trying drum home to you - your expertise and knowledge about Omegas are no doubt greater than most on here, but that does not mean you are right everytime about everything - others opinions and methodology in doing repairs is just as important, which you often appear to or seem to overlook.
I think you are overthinking the point where you suggest I'm making  - quote' - some incredibly baseless judgements against my character and work ethic'. If you were a shop assistant, then saying 'I hope you are not as annoying to customers whilst serving them', is relevant to the particular line of work - you may push a drinks trolley, which is part of your line of work (and you have not been particularly discreet about your chosen occupation, but generally have a rather 'gloating' attitude with your regular posts about airlines, destinations and your activities). Now if you think that is insinuating something, then that's your perogative.....
I don't always disagree with your posts - rather than the context and manner in which you reply. There have been instances where you are absolutely adamant that the only way to do a certain repair on an Omega is by XYZ, where as I may have personal experience of doing it by a different method, which has worked for me, but because you have it it planted in your mind that it has to done a particular way, no other method of tackling the job will do. If you are incorrect or I believe you are incorrect about any aspect of a topic, then I will make that known in a response, but to suggest that I am disagreeing 'just because it's you' is totally incorrect.
I know members on here have taken a back seat in their involvement - purely because of your attitude towards relatively simply requests for help.
My few responses are not just because you have posted it, but as  I have said previously - take a look at yourself and how you come across to members, especially those from other countries, and if you can take steps to remedy this, then I'm sure this forum will become an even greater and friendlier place!
It's not just me thinking all this. I'm just the one firing the bullets.....

Those of us long enough in the tooth to remember the old days of OOF, can smile at this.
We were all a lot younger and gobbier and the only thing  that often stopped some of us knocking the shite out of one another was distance.
Although on a couple of occasions, I came close to not letting that stop me.  ::) :-[ ;D
Used to drive poor TB to distraction, and he came close to shutting down general chat permanently more than once.
Older, calmer and a bit wiser now, I rarely let anything on the interweb get under my skin....
.......apart from STEMO, obviously.  :P ;D

Due to "disputes" on here over how opinions have been expressed, with faults on my part and others, including DG, I have not posted anything serious on here for some time. My health recently has also been a factor to be considered.

However, for once, I would stand up for DG who has rubbed me up the wrong way, but has always given excellent advise on a subject he obviously knows very well.  The issue with any forum like ours is we can ALL come across badly at times. I know I have!!

If we could discuss things face to face, the issues at times would not get so out of hand and personal,  but we can't.

So I would say just, in the words of my favourite band and their best song, The Beatles, "speaking words of wisdom" LET IT BE "Whisper words of wisdom" LET IT BE..."their will. be an answer"
