Cystoscopy

Have any of you old buggers on here had one? I'm due one early next month and would like to know your experience of it. Feel free to pm me if you don't fancy 'going public' about it. TIA.

Had one a few years ago. :(

Was talked through the whole thing.  They said there would be a tight spot and gave me the option to watch it all on a monitor.

Worse part for me was stripping off completely. :-\

All staff were super efficient and polite. :y

Take some wet wipes, better than just the tissues as they give a basic wipe clean. (KY Jelly)

Doesn't take long.

Results were confirmed with in a week.  (Unlike my MRI Scan - Scanned on 2nd Sept,  Still waiting for the results and that's after 4 phone calls to the hospital)

Not easy to say to anyone but mine was 100% a positive experience after all the stress I put myself under.

Hope all your female nurses were as cute as mine were. ::) ::) :y :y

If it’s the one where they feed a wire camera down through the eye of your penis then yes I’ve had that done a couple of times. I was being checked for bladder infection due to blood in my urine.
In my case, they asked me to wear a gown with a square Velcro opening for your willy, which seems rather pointless as that’s the only bit that I consider myself naked.   ;D  Make sure you have a piss before the Cystoscopy. Once you are laid on the hospital bed, an anaesthetic gel is put on the end of your penis to numb it. The surgeon will then slowly feed a thin wire camera through the penis opening and do whatever he needs to do.

The bit you probably want to know is, is it uncomfortable?  In my experiences, having the procedure done was not painful in any way, just mildly uncomfortable, especially when he fed the cord back out. It just made me recoil slightly.  :o

Things that I wasn’t comfortable with:
How close his head got to my penis when he was looking through the end of the camera as he fed it in.  ;D
After the Cystoscopy is over, the anaesthetic gel will still be numbing your bits, so you won’t know if you need a piss or not.  :-\  When you do go for a piss, be prepared to piss flames. That bit is really uncomfortable, and you’ll continue to piss flames for the rest of the day.

Never had anything shoved done the old Jap eye.....but have 'endured' two endoscopy where they shove a tube down your throat and into your stomach.

Some people can't take it because of the natural gag reflex and insist on either sedation or being out cold. I just had a little numbing spray and watched the whole thing on a TV monitor. Very unpleasant.

Both times I had a nurse sat next to me for the whole procedure, just generally making conversation, I’m guessing as a distraction. Other nurses were in and out of the room chatting to each other, while I was exposed to the world.  ;D
As you say, they talk you through it all.  :y

Trust me, you won’t get an erection, especially after the gel goes on.  ;D  I’ll confess to swinging mine about a bit on the way in to the room, to make it look bigger when the nurses saw me.   ;D  When the gel went on, it went into hibernation though.  :-[ :o

I've had more colonoscopies than I care to remember.  :(

I've got so used the procedure I don't bother much with the gas & air, let alone sedatives, much to the astonishment of the nurses last time I went in for one.  ::)

………..
I was being checked for bladder infection due to blood in my urine.
………..

Just to add, I couldn’t see blood in my urine, it was only highlighted during my work’s medical. I was certificated to operate Telehandlers, Cranes and large diesel forklifts, and as anyone that uses them knows, you have to have a 3 yearly medical. My 3 yearly medical always showed blood in my urine so off to hospital I’d have to go, have an ultrasound and a Cystoscopy, which thankfully showed nothing of  concern, and then I was cleared to operate the lifting equipment again. I did this for nine years, so 3 Cystoscopy’s, until I let the ticket lapse.

Well, had it done this afternoon. Bit embarrassing dropping ya kecks in front of two young women, one of which, the consultant, was very attractive.
Was interesting seeing on the screen as the camera probe went up the tube past the prostate and then into the bladder. She reckoned that both were ok and diagnosed an overactive bladder. Been prescribed a drug called Finasteride which could take a few months to fully work. Will have to see how things go.

Glad that it went well.  :y  Having yourself checked out is worth a bit of embarrassment and it’s soon over and forgotten about.  :y
