"Yet here at UCLH, there is one way you can get seen earlier. Indeed, for certain members of society, you can get assessed in just 15 minutes.

That privilege goes to undocumented migrants, as well as the homeless and drug addicts, according to its website. Under a scheme called 987 Inclusion Health, patients within those categories needing an “urgent” assessment can ask for an appointment at A&E and be bumped up the queue on arrival. After initial tests, they are taken directly to a consultant for a “more thorough evaluation”."

One of our neighbours had to go to our local casualty a few days before Christmas he said it was like being in a foreign country, the signs on the walls are in various languages & one translates into no spitting on the floor , what a dumping ground the UK has become.

Yup. The worst part is, it's gone too far, we're never going back.

Yup. The worst part is, it's gone too far, we're never going back .

Unlike some of the migrants, who allegedly popped back home for Christmas to the place they’d fled from, if the stories we hear are correct.
You couldn’t make it up could you.

We really are the laughing stock of the world, come to the UK & take the piss out of everyone who has served their country & worked for their right to live here, I'm glad I'm old, god only knows what's in store for my grandsons.

I dont see any reason why people who live in the UK but werent born here cant be made to carry identity cards.
Then the authorities would have some chance of actually finding out who should and shouldnt be in the country, which would be a start, compared to where we are now.
I have a suspicion though that the authorities dont actually want to know. If they knew the size of the problem they might actually have to try and do something about it.

On the plus side most would be used to carrying an I’d card at all times. We are all required to do so in Spain . You get used to it. Never been asked for it except to show who I am when buying/ ordering stuff. Or completing forms.
I remember years ago being at the dentist and an immigrant was asked for her Nat insurance number and produced a handful of cards with different numbers on them. The receptionist actually grabbed them and challenged her.  That probably illustrates the problem. If people can get forged passports they could get basic I’d cards easily. Our new ones have many layers of security including fingerprints.

There has never been an appetite for challenging folk in the uk by all political parties. They need the cheap labour and the income tax. I wish they started though with car washes and Turkish barbers.

They do this elsewhere, but it does automatically allow access to the system. That said, here they get that perk without being traceable, so perhaps there's mileage to the concept.

How? If the idea is to stop illegal immigrants gaining access to NHS services, then unless you make everyone carry ID, they'd just claim to be British (and thus not need ID) and we'd be no further forward.

Also remember, Boris Johnson wasn't born "here", Joanna Lumley wasn't born "here", and I'm sure lots of other prominent UK residents were not born here either.

Being born somewhere, or not, is largely irrelevant. Presumably the people you mentioned reside in the UK legally.

Identity cards would imply some form of formal registration of otherwise undocumented people. Although you might argue that with formal registration comes DNA and fingerprint databases for everyone at the point of registration. Most people would be just as wary about that as they are about the idea of literally stopping the boats rather than encouraging them.
