Is it going to work?

Got to admire Trump getting on with ( trying) to end the war. Not sure letting Russia back onto the world stage eg G8 is so clever. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?

Consider this.

If the US hadn't gone so far in the previous direction, the likes of Trump would never have been in the running, let alone elected.

As JD Vance said in Munich yesterday, there's a new sheriff in town and he knows what he wants to get done, so if you're not sat at the table then you're on the menu.

A drop in the ocean compared to the number of Russians killed by their own regime. 10 million? 20 million.

They were. Besides which, the Minsk and Istanbul (both allowing the DPR and LPR to remain as part of Ukraine} peace plans were agreed by Russia, but scuppered by Merkel, Hollande and Boris Johnson. Also, Putin had originally requested to join NATO – hardly 'old school' Soviet.

I haven't commented on thread, apart from correcting your assertion, and neither will I.
You, like everyone else, have no clue about what will happen in Ukraine, and will find out when you read it in the news.
