As already said .. "gentle" chastisement .. when my lad did this he had his hand slapped firmly, was not allowed his favourite treats, and was left in no uncertain terms that it was "wrong". Neither of my kids were ever allowed to scream/throw tantrums, so that didn't happen.. he just learned very fast that it was another of those NO things.

end of problem

ill let you have my kids for a week
sort them out
 :y

In today's PC environment I'd probably end up in jail .. but it didn't do my 2 any harm .. both reasonably well adjusted mid-twenties now, and they still come home at Xmas...  :)

LOts too late maybe -- but when the girls were little I told them the car wouldn't go if the seatbelts weren't done up -- worked a treat -- the new little lad though seems a lot brighter --- think James' suggestion of handcuffs is the way to go ---- mmmm ---- where did I put them ????  Should I use the speedcuffs or the furry ones ----  ::)

Boxing gloves.

Duck tape the thumb to the hand of the glove then tie them on tight. If he can undo the belt then, give up.

If that doesn't work put some gloves on yourself and have a dam good  fight with him and see who comes out on top. lol  :y  :y  :y

Most of Britains 's populace think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of 'those moments.'

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, I-Pod, etc.

Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

errr.......you would be surprised  :-/

Mia used to do it all the time, we have a Zafira at the time and she would unclip it and not tell anyone......

one day someone pulled out on me, i was only doing about 15mph luckily, Tracy felt a heavy 'thud' as mia bounced off the back of the passenger seat.....there were tears.......lots of tears, then it dawned on her the purpose of the belt

She never did it again, however i wouldn't advocate it as the outcome could have been fatal

if partner is in the car aswell, she'd be better off in the back with them, however if not, leave the kids at home

Some belts are made sort of child proof the middle one in my 99 CD has a belt buckle that has a small hole about 3/8"  in it where you have to press to release it I end up using ign key to open as fingers wont !
Mind in 98 V6 Est no such luck "the dog wears a harness sometimes when we take with us she lays on back seat" well she unlocks the std buckle just by standing on it often :-[ :-[
So fitted a piece of plastic over it so she cant press on it (a piece from a flatish type ketchup bottle )  :D

I know stick the dog in the back of estate !!! Do when she gets mucky! :y

slighty extreme but a good mind f&*k works well - give a cornetto & action man to troublesome child (that's also clothed in his fav. clothes )- without seatbelt in a empty car park. move off and then stop quickly enough, so he makes a mess, but his brother only drops his cornetto - throw out 1st childs action man, cornetto & strip him to his pants for home journey - don't allow him toys in the car for about a week - &  pamper 10 Month old for being a good boy  that does'nt play with his seatbelt

Cruel but fair
