Over the weekend my lower right leg became quite painful and swollen and so today I phoned the Drs at 0946. 

The receptionist said the Practice Nurse would phone me back for a chat about my symptoms, which she did at 1038.

After a quick chat, she gave me an appointment with the Dr and I found myself sat in front of him at 1125.

He wanted a blood test.  I was with a nurse 20 minutes later having some blood extracted and back with the Dr about half an hour later discussing the results, getting a prescription and a referral for a scan on my leg at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester. Time & date TBA.

Home by 1300, for a bacon sarnie! 

Can't complain with that service!

It's a suspected DVT which apparently is deadly!                            I'll be long gone by 2028 if it is....

When my missus had a suspected DVT, they sent her straight from the surgery to Barnsley hospital and she was seen within an hour

Well.... I've also got something funny going on with one of my toes and the Dr reckoned that it could be infected and the infection might have gone up into my leg.

So I've got penicillin for that and blood thinners in case its a DVT, covering both eventualities.  Anyway whatever it is, it had already started to improve from where I was at the start of the weekend.

That's good news , got to be very careful with any form of infection nowadays, we changed to a different doctor/surgery a couple of years ago as I was concerned about a diagnosis re my diabetes, after being checked at the new surgery my suspicions were confirmed that they had diagnosed me incorrectly, the new practice is really top notch.

Going off tangent .....I know, unusual on here......my wife's pain turned out not to be DVT. It was really painful, in the middle of her calf muscle. After further blood tests, it was found she had virtually zero vitamin D. No one connected this with the pain, of course, but the minute she started taking the huge doses of vit D the doc gave her they disappeared.
When she finished the course of capsules, it came back. Doc didn't believe her because there's no way they can be connected. We now order 20,000 iu vitamin D from sunvit, and the pain hasn't come back. Go figure
