Airbag wiring colours - 2003 FL special
« on: 11 May 2025, 10:05:14 »

After some vigorous hoovering I've managed to pull the seat wiring apart on my 2003 FL.

This has brought the airbag light on. Swearing has happened. There are some soldered and crimped wires on the airbag circuit which obviously aren't factory. Its the crimps that have fallen apart however I don't know which one went to which wire.

I've tried comparing them to the other project but helpfully the wiring harness colours must have changed between early and late facelifts.

In the car loom I have a blue/ orange and a purple/ orange wire coming from the yellow airbag loom. I need to connect these to the blue and brown wires on the seat, the yellow plug.

Do any of you wonderful people have access to a wiring diagram or indeed just know which one goes to which? I want the airbag system to work and also not blow the side of the seat out if I do it wrong...

Safe to say I'll make sure they're nice and secure before refitting to avoid a repeat...

I would probably start with unplugging the battery.

What does the seat the other side of the car say?

First thing I did, then went for a cuppa and a chin stroke.

Other side has red/orange to the blue, then red/green going to the brown. Which would suggest red/orange to the blue on drivers side hut I really can't be bothered finding another seat if it turns out wrong :D :D

I don't have TIS installed anywhere I can currently get to, but would have thought it would be in the Haynes Book of Billix

I'd be surprised if they changed the colour coding in the facelift years.

I was surprised and a bit peeved. The other one is an early facelift, W plate plod, and obviously no way of knowing what plod buggered about with before... But its definitely different!
