Engine swap
« on: 11 May 2025, 22:27:30 »

Hello, just looking for some advice. I’ve got a 2002 2.6 auto Omega, considering a manual swap but also wanted to pick some brains, has anyone swapped out the engine and gear box with one from another car, any help will be much appreciated!

Ive taken several out but havent put one back in.
Pretty time consuming but its just nuts, bolts, wiring plugs and coolant hoses really.
A decent engine hoist is a must.

3.2 will bolt straight in where the 2.6 was. Manual swap.a bit more involved but I do believe there's a guide on here. Harder to find the parts now mind you.

there are other options on the badge enginneered versions such as the cadillac and holdens plus the monaro . delending on how far you want go go regarding modifications and how or where the basic shell differs ?

Actually, I "enjoyed" it that much, I seem to recall I did it twice. Or was it thrice.

The Holden Monaro etc aren't derived from the Omega B.

That said, the LS engine family will go in with some effort and creativity.

<shudder> There's something wrong with that picture. It's not raining and I can't see any re-purposed bits of garage door in play. ;D

It was definitely easier in the dry, and not being constantly distracted by Omegatoy destroying my door mechanism....

I don't know. LFF64 did an admirable job soaking up the rain for us. ;D

If it's manual then yes. If it's auto, budget for an AR35.
