Got there in the end - AND a new MOT...
« on: 08 September 2025, 14:41:38 »

Without the help of OOF I would never have got here. Cheers and thanks to everyone...!!

A few before & after pix to kick off. Might be useful as reference...

Everything that came off was cleaned up...

Clean and ready for new gaskets...

The amount of eggs I had to eat to get all these parts boxes...

Old & new valves...

Heads clean & ready for re-assembly...

At last - all back in - that mileage will haunt me for the rest of my days...

And then some photos of the actual car...

Brilliant effort Dave. Great to see it paid off in the end.  :y

Thanks mate.
Hey, just seeing your location… the first serious trip out from home was to Long Melford. So I can’t have been a million miles from you!!

Not very far at all. About 20 minutes.

A tidy looking example worth saving.  And it was a great thread covering the diagnosis and subsequent top end rebuild

Oh, that's nicely done  :y

Any particular paint to get such a nice finish on the intake plenum?

It was E-Tech engine enamel in red. (AEE05-R).

Several light coats after a thorough degrease & clean. Reckons it’s good for 250degC, but I hope the plenum never gets near that !!!

Looks a tidy, well looked after example and a credit to you.  :y  It was definitely worth spending the money on it to keep a comfortable car, with a known history, on the road.   :y
