Cambelt change – James V6CDX
« on: Yesterday at 23:21:58 »

Well. it's been 4 years (maybe more) since I last had a belt change and I was becoming a bit concerned.

I live in London and experience has shown that few, if any, local garages have the competence (or tools) to change a V6 belt. I began to worry. The last belt change was done by JamesV6CDX of this parish.

I thought it may worth messaging him, explaining my plight, to see if he was in a position to do it again. Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Blow me down!! To cut to the main point, last Saturday he arrived in his lovely Omega and completed the job (at the roadside!) in just a few hours. That included a new belt/pulleys, a new water pump, oil change and air filter change.

The man's an efficient genius!  :)

There is a large semi-selective secondary school at the end of my road and last Saturday was a testing day for September 2026 intake, so there was a constant stream of prospective parents and children walking past and James attracted much attention. One lady asked if he could help as her key fob would no longer allow her to enter and restart her 1-series BMW. He swung into action and discovered the car's battery was dead. I didn't have any jump leads but he grabbed a couple of bits of cable from my shed and got her going. Big hugs from her! Several men stopped to ask him car-related questions and he happily dealt with them all. Also, my postie wants him to renew the cambelt on his 1.6 Ford Focus Zetec and he now has James' details!

It transpires that he is starting a new business (Cotswold Car Diagnostics) and with his extensive knowledge and flexible approach, I can see it becoming a very successful venture.

He deserves it and I wish him well.  :y :y
