2.5 V6 cruise control
« on: 01 November 2025, 20:28:05 »

Hi all,
I know there's tons of cruise control posts on here but after hours of searching I haven't seen an answer to my questions (apologies if I've missed something).
So I would really like to fit cruise control to my 2.5 V6 but I would like to know if any omega cruise control would fit? Or does it have to be specifically V6 or even 2.5 V6?
If anyone has a suitable kit squirreled away for sale or any parts that I could make a kit with please get in touch 👍
Many thanks

It's electro mechanical on the 2.0/2.5/3.0.

The actuator cable may be enging specific as it links to the throttle body.

The wiring is covered in Haynes and is relatively straightforward. The hardest part will be collecting the parts but once you've done that, it's an easy afternoon to fit it.

You need:

Actuator unit
The correct stalk... 2.2/2.6/3.2 won't work
Clutch switch if applicable
Wiring harness

If the donor car has been dismantled with care, then it should be pretty straightforward, but if it's been hacked out of different cars, then you will have extra work to do.

Thanks Dr,

Apologies I didn't mean to DM, I'm still learning the site and wasn't sure how to reply 🤦‍♀️ it's a bit small on my phone and didn't see it hiding at the bottom 😔.

Again if anyone has any parts laying around out there please drop me a message and I'll buy them 👍

Thanks again

If you have a random large plug near the coolant tank you might find that the wiring is indeed present, in which case you can cross the harness off the list and the retrofit will be broadly similar to a Vectra B :y

My only dealings with the older cabled cruise control is using the parts to retrofit it to LS1 V8 conversions on later 3.2s

As far as I know, all are prewired for it.

The actuator is the same for all
The bowden cable is engine specific
Can't remember if all cars have the cable mounting bracket at the throttle end, if not, that will be engine specific
The E clip that holds the bowden cable to throttle usually gets lost, but easy to replace from any good hardware store
Most autos will need a new brake switch (as factory fit for non cruise is only 2 pin, and cruise needs 4 pin). Manuals need clutch switch as well
All cruise control stalks, with the exception of the BMW based 2.5 diesels, are identical.  The non BMW ones have a 4 pin connector, the BMW ones only have a 2 pin connector.

If you have the auxiliary coolant pump attached to the 3 studs in the inner wing that the cruise actuator bolts to, you will need to fabricate a new mount for the pump - easy enough to do.

Er, not quite...

Pre and mid facelifted use a different plug to the facelifted cars.  ;)
