Shocking item on Sky News today showing the high level of uninsured drivers and the high number of accidents each day. The article even highlights the worst areas in the country.

Here is an idea, why don’t the police mount “ Spanish like campaigns” and impound and crush offender’s vehicles.?

It would be fairly easy to do as the traffic moves so slowly anyway. 

Here they even do it on Motorways. I have mixed feelings about that as encountering three lanes of stationary traffic at 85 mph isn’t fun ( but I guess happens regularly in the UK) . They have a large turnout of cop cars. One on the hard shoulder with blue hazards on warning about the problem ahead. Then about  five or more vehicles ahead. They have personnel with stingers ready to be deployed. I suspect they use the process to look for drugs on the move to Northern Europe to triple their value.

Don't use the motorways very often but the cop cars I have seen are unmarked and all you get to see is the blue lights hidden behind the grills when they start to flash with the headlights when they are in pursuit.

Unless you have Target Blu Eye fitted (TETRA Comms detection), and then you'd know they were there from half a mile away.

Personally we wouldn't need one , totally legal & neither of us break the speed limits anymore,we pay enough to run/maintain our vehicles & certainly don't want to contribute any more cash in fines.

Me neither.    I tend to watch my speed constantly now, particularly on motorways. As you say, it’s not worth the aggro anymore.

One thing I did learn on my patronisation course is the sort of distances their gear works over.  Not sure half a mile would be enough 

My last set of points were picked up at just under 700m, as I came over the brow of a hill


And, yes, I am a reformed character, and I was officially doing less than 70mph on a rural dual carriageway.  Its just I refuse point blank to obey HS2's stupid road speed limits they have whilst they spend 4 years to build a single bridge.  There is no need for the speed restriction, as, lets face it, they are definately "working out of sight", just not anywhere near the bloody unfinished bridge.

They claim detection at one kilometre, but seeing as I drive like an old granny now I’ll **hopefully** not need to worry about where they are.
