I spotted a X reg facelift today on ASDA's car park ..... in an uncommon green colour. It was in fantastic condition ... no rot in sight. I spoke to the owner who had only owned it for a few weeks & paid the princely sum of £500 for it. Bargain of the year! It was 'only' a 2.2 CD but none the less it looked a damned good buy!  :y

I suppose the humble 2.2 gets a bit of a kicking for having two cylinders missing. :)

Haha, It doesn't go any where in the bad weather as I might seize up or go rusty if I get wet.  :-\

A manual Desmond was a bit more spritely than the Auto, but it has enough oomph to get out of its own way. Obviously it's never going to be as smooth as a V6 and it's a fair chunk of torque short of the 3.0/3.2, but it will get the job done.

What I´ve found out Omega is always pretty slippy/taili happy mainly to due that semi-trailing arm rear suspension :)  Few expamples:

https://youtu.be/3YOsoQGfQeo

(3.0 litre V6)

https://youtu.be/ZI207qabQ44

(basic 2.2 litre manual)

I think the beginning of the corner feels pretty much same as you turn in and start to rotate, but V6 (because that extra power and torque) has just more wheelspin at end ;D

Both of those cars had a limited-slip-differential ;)

Even the 2.2 is close to being a 130MPH car.

Similar to a Jensen Interceptor from the sixties and seventies.

Mind you a boggo MK2 Cortina 1300 was out of puff at about 85MPH.
