Christ alive that's a lot of money!

Have you tried the AA website? I used a random 2017 astra reg number (came back as 1.6 diesel) and they quoted £212 to do the fronts and £196 for the rears. Which I still think is a lot, but a big chunk less than you were quoted. You have the option of a man in a nice yellow van doing it on your drive too - which sounds better to me than sitting in a freezing cold waiting room drinking sh!t coffee.

Just for info, TPMS can be coded out for roughly £50 using a postal service (they send you a box to plug in, you do the update then send it back) so it will never appear again. Which would be my choice, like others I would argue that if you can't spot that your tyres are flat, you should hand back your licence.

Total for the work doing the above way would be £450 ish - much more palatable   :y

The TPMS sensors were showing low voltage, you could reset them and in a few days where showing a fault.

I had to get them changed.

Thanks for the link.

The annoying part is I have a mate who works for a parts distribution company and can get me parts at a discounted price.

None of the garages around where I live will fit parts supplied by myself.

Ah, no worries if you've already had them done. The purpose of the service I linked to is that it removes/disables the TPMS function entirely so the car either doesn't know it has TPMS fitted, or just thinks everything is fine with it. Either way it doesn't matter what the sensors are or are not showing, you'll never see a warning on the dashboard again.  :y

this is one thing that scares me to bits.IF i get older and cannot work on my cars (or house for that matter ,anything!) who the hell will i have to trust to help me ?.there is no one i trust now as it is and if i (or anyone i know) gets anything done by a " tradesperson " or specialist etc there is always  something wrong with it afterwards .i recently spent thousands on a bare metal respray that i only  asked to be a flat and new topcoat but they have removed everything .this meant all my previous levelling and alignment of edges ,panel gaps etc and jow everyyhing is miles out .i had to totally dismantle the entire car and adjust ,shim etc to get it back to near what it was before !
we had daughters clutch done over christnas cos if was freezing and we were too busy .this came  back with broken cable end held on with a cable  tie and the front bumper fitted 1cm higher than the bonnet closing edge (yes 1cm !) i could go on !
basically what i mean is you cant trust a proffesional to do anywhere near as good a job as you can do yourself .maybee because of time restraints or just lack of care and attention .

I dont suppose theres a local OOFer who could help ?
That price seems obscene to me.  :(
As for TPMS. I would pull the fuse and just use my tyre pressure gauge, same as I have done for the last 50 years.  :)
Madness. If you cant be arsed to check tyre pressures once a week you shouldnt be allowed a licence.  ::)
All done in the name of "progress".  ::) TPMS, rain sensitive wipers etc, all done so many don't have to properly look after their cars. Just be reactive instead of proactive.

Yep. Everything done for you, no need to worry at all. Except, of course, when it gets foggy no one thinks they need to switch their lights on. Car will do it, won't it?

or turn them off afterwards. I eventually pulled level with a woman who had both front & rear fogs on, wound my window down & told her that her rear fogs were on .... just got a blank look off her (maybe I should have said it in Punjabi  :-X)

I turned all the auto lights off on the Yaris , we don't drive very often at night but the auto dipping was too slow in my opinion I hate being dazzled by oncoming vehicles & certainly don't want to do it to other motorists,  the one thing that is excellent on it are the screen washers really powerful puts the RR to shame.
