I would speak to the head and threaten to complain to the governors,if the head doesnt take you seriously, complain to the governers.
my son was bullied badly at school for years and suffered in silence.one day he snapped and smacked one of the bullies on the nose.broke his nose and knocked him sparko. the whole story came out and the school were talking about expulsion, but I told them that it was their fault for ignoring the bullying for so long.
It did so much damage to my son that he went into a downward spiral which lasted for years and culminated in him attempting suicide on more than one occasion.heartbreak doesnt begin to cover it.
My son still hasnt really recovered his confidence, and being a sensitve soul,I doubt he ever will.

I was violently bullied at school, and on top of that I witnessed domestic violence for most of my life - so although I (albeit rarely) sometimes spit my dummy, I feel that my self control (especially physical), is respectable given what I was brought up around.

That said - in my last year at school, I did reach a pont where enough was enough, and I lashed out at a bully.

An older (and much larger) guy at school had been tormenting and pushing me around for about 3 years. After putting up with it for this long, one day when he started pushing me, I flipped, and bent his nose (despite numerous requests from the head to help get him to leave me alone first).

Guess who ended up in trouble?

(I don't think I helped my case at the time. "Yes sir, I did hit him in the nose, and if he continues to bully me I will do it again - only harder ;D )

the head should have been ashamed of himself.failing in your duty to a vulnerable child is a very cowardly act. >:(

can i make a complaint to a higher person

When my eldest was being bullied i explained to the head that they had one chance to sort it >:( - then My son would fight back with my full support- including me slapping anyone that did not help my son (you're either with  me or bleeding) 8-) - it also helps being 6'2" and mean looking

There are moments that no one can help you..

And there are moments that you can no longer escape..

But you must be ready for that.. :-X
