Concrete mixer - sold!
« on: Yesterday at 09:00:56 »

Bought it in the UK , 1980. Simple German made standard electric mixer. No on off switch.

Served me well especially here where it regularly ran from dawn to dusk.

New owner is Dutch. I wonder if it will still be working in 2072 !

My dad has a 250L diesel one he inherited from a builder who didn't want to come back and fix some snagging, so left all his tools instead  :o.

I'm not sure how old that one is, but it was made in West Germany, which is definitely an indication. In its 15yrs with us its wanted only for a new set of phosphor bronze bushes. I fully expect to be inheriting that when he passes, and I will warn the lad to expect it when my time comes  ;D

I doubt many of us will be, and nor would I want to be. I mean, you yourself would be over 111 years old by then.   :)

Opti is already 111. That avatar photo was taken by one of the colour photo pioneers!

I agree, wouldn’t want to be around in 46 years time. World population 10 billion. Trump and Putin ( or at least cryogenic versions ) will still be having peace talks for Ukraine and rest of Europe. Everybody will routinely carry guns, take drugs and drive around in homogenised Chinese EVs. Pay Per mile auto deducted from your chip’s wallet. At least we lived in the best times ever.

I was recounting a holiday we took in 1992 to Mojácar to Spanish friends last night. Once there we hired a car and drove to Granada, parked for free outside the Alhambra and went in. Very few folk, on to Seville and so on. Drove the car ike it was stolen! Only way to travel such distances. Roads were empty save for a few lorries. Very very different now.
