Unless fitted with a proper gearbox >:D
Gearbox makes no difference to how crap (comparatively speaking) the engine is, as well you know.
I never had the inferior pre facelift technology in V6 flavour >:D
Which goes some way to explain your dillusion around 3.2 being equal to the far superior 3.0 ;D

The plastic washer is still in place. The float is still er...floating. Haven't done the paperclip thing yet.

If the paperclip cures it, then the fault is likely to be either a rusty magnet or a knackered reed switch if the float is OK.  Same solution - replace bottle (replacing the reed switch is possible, but tricky to remove sensor from bottle.

I have now replaced the coolant reservoir and the after cat lambda sensor which seems to have solved both the problems  :)
Should I replace the pre cat lambda sensor as a preventative measure or leave well alone now the check engine light is out?

No need to replace the pre-starting cat sensors if they aren't faulty.

Well that'll teach me - ran the car with no problems for about 20 mins yesterday, check engine light back on after a 10 minute drive today. What shall I try next?

I believe the error code is still P0420, which means that the catalytic converter is not working enough hard anymore. In order to fix that properly, you could replace cat(s), because after market ones cost about 300 euros. I actually installed those and they working completely fine.

There is OFC a cheap option, which somebody wrote earlier, to move rear lambda further, that it won´t detect to poor work of catalytic converter.

I managed to turn the light off and the car has again been running for 30 mins without it coming back on.
The codes stored are U3111 and B3F9D(83)
I cleared out all the breather pipes this morning while I was out there, not that I think thats anything to do with it.
I want to be sure the cat is the problem before renewing it.

Double check all the electrical connections that you may have disturbed, ensuring they are clean and fully seated.

Not got a copy of TIS loaded anywhere currently, but those codes are not ODBII, thus not cat related.
