When I had my heart valves replaced, my heart wasn’t functioning on its own so they fitted an external pacemaker. The wires went in at stomach level and up to my heart. When they were sure that I was breathing unaided, they went to pull the wires out, but after almost three months the wires had become fused into my body and wouldn’t come out, so they cut them off flush with my skin and left them in. I was convinced that I may get some grief when going/returning from holiday but it hasn’t happened yet.  :-\   Not related to the wires but I always seem to get pulled to one side for them to run the wand over me. I have no objection to that if stricter checks catch the bad guys.  :y

You should have asked them to leave a couple of terminals so you could easily get a jump start if needs be!  >:D

 ;D ;D

Well technically the wires are still there connected to my heart, with the other ends of the wire at stomach level just below the surface of my skin so that’s still an option.  ;D
That makes defrib machines easier to do, surely ;D

Maybe one of those little glovebox jumpstarters that Lidl have in the middle would do the trick?  :-\                                                ;D

Quite a few years back, I travelled again back to the USA with my adopted daughter's, Rebecca, family.  We flew in to Tampa, as I have done on many occasions, but this time there was a problem.

We all went through the usual entry checks without a hitch, but when Rebecca tried to the Customs system flagged up she was wanted, for murder!  She was taken away as the rest of us, absolutely flabbergasted,  wondered what to do next.  After 30 minutes I managed to speak to a Customs officer, who was most unhelpful.  Asked when she would be released, as it was clearly a mistake as she was British, and had never been to the USA before, he simply stated that "If she is innocent she will be released, if not she will be detained!" :o :o

After another 45 minutes of waiting, our Rebecca appeared.  Yes, there had been a mistake, with her being mistaken for an American women, with her full name, who has an arrest warrant issued for her!

We later laughed about all this, but at the time it was far from funny, as I had her partner, a simple kind of guy, who can hardly look after himself, with a 5 year old child to look after.  I was also the designated driver who would be taking them in a hired car to the hotel, but was left wondering for all too long if we should stay at the airport, go to the hotel, or even think about IF we had to fly home!  A scary time indeed!! :o :o

You don't get to think about the flying home...

They WILL delay the aircraft you arrived on to send you back on it.

And to their credit, at least they screen people going into the States. Border Ferry Services, I mean Border Farce, could learn alot from the CBP approach. :-X

Yes I agree, that’s not exactly the best start to a holiday is it.  ;D
