Hello peeps.
« on: 06 May 2026, 16:20:35 »

Im fairly new round here & to VX brand. Not owned a VX cince the 70's so please be kind.
My 2003 2.2 Omega is showing me the amber check light on the mesage screen, I believe thats the oil level warning. It lies. Unfortunatly I cant find the sencor. Can anyone please point me in it's direction so I can check it & can someone tell me if this is the only censor in this circuite?  TIA. G

it's been a while since I had my Omega but IIRC the low oil message is NOT an amber check light and is a message on the display. ISTR the face lift also having an amber spanner for something to do with emissions and an amber engine for faults  :-\

A picture of your "amber check light" would help identify your car's fault

Is this the CHECK word on  the display in the centre, the bit Vauxhall call Multi Information Display (assuming your trim is CD or CDX)?

If so, if its not combined with any other message on the display, and is there from startup, then its normally a brake switch at fault.

The system will always put the CHECK light on until it has been able to test the brake light bulbs, which it cannot do until the brake pedal is depressed. If it detects the brake has been depressed, but one or more of the brake light bulbs isn't working, it will also display Brake Light in the display.

So if this is the case, firstly check if the brake lights are working, which will prove one part of the switch.

The Boy my trim is cdx. The message is on the Multi Information Screen, the brake light warning message comes up but goes away when the peddal is depressed, the check light stays on, all brake lights work as they should. The handbook says this light is for engine oil level but that makes no sence as the car has a dipstick. It strikes me odd alltogether, the M I D says the pads are worn out but they are not wired for sencors. Could someone have been playing do you you think?

Ah, sorry, my bad, I was confusing it with the older MID.

Lets take it one step at a time to save confusion :y

So on yours, if CHECK is on, it will have an associated message on the screen. Something like:
Coolant Low
Check Engine Oil
Gearbox Fault
Brake Pads
Tail Lights
etc

Are *any* of these appearing after you do the brake light test upon starting?  You mentioned brake pads - the CDX is wired for them (only one side on faecelift cars).

I had a 2002 2.2 CDX. The "Brake Light Check" message always appeared on start up, then went when the brake pedal was depressed. Had no issues during the seven years i had the old girl. HTH.
