results from stat change
« on: 21 September 2008, 17:55:03 »

Replaced the stat yesterday, first day did a run from cold to MK and back.

Heated up much faster, now stays constant at 85 all the time...

Before it would take 'spirited' driving of 80mph down the lanes to get it to that temp, usually it would sit around 80, last few weeks 78/79.

Too early to tell if mpg is better, but i have done 260 miles on this tank, with the MID saying a range of 275 is left, so thats gone up quite a bit.

I would expect a small MPG improvement over a long run, and much more significant over shorter runs.

And congratulations, you did that stat all one your own - good to see confidence is improving :y

I agree with TB......its the cold starts/short runs where it will make a difference......if its taking ages to get upto temp.....

78/79 or 85 on a run is not going to make a difference.......

My stat seems to have fixed itself  :y It went thro a little phase of staying stuck open......and only getting upto temp in traffic....dropping back down to the stop if i went on a run......but for months now its been ok again....occasionally drops to 80 ish or slightly lower going down the motorway...i know it will need doing sometime  ::)

But well done Tunnie for doing it yourself  :y and not stripping any threads or disconnecting brake pipes accidently  ::) ;D :y

Ta  :y

I am a bit scared of doing things i have never tackled before, would not have a problem doing it again now.

I need to get those shocks on mine, then the diff seal, and things should really be running well.

TD - It really is a doddle, has yours be changed before? Mines @ 112k and it really needed doing, i would be inclined to get yours done too   :y
