Problems with my mobile
« on: 01 October 2008, 12:09:40 »

Hi peeps,

Just asking an opinion here.

My mobile phone keeps cutting off during calls >:(
I have noticed that my signal strength indicator will suddenly drop to no signal.
I have spoken to 3 and all they want to do is have my phone re-flashed.
Now to me a re-flash will do nothing to the aerial side of things at all.
Am i right in this theory, or are they????

Dont really want a re-flash as i will lose most of the stuff on my phone and it will only end up going in again cos it still wont work properly >:(

It could be that there's a firmware issue they're aware of that's causing the phone to drop the serving cell during a call.

On the other hand it could be an internal connection to the antenna failing. Can you provoke the problem by twisting the case, tapping the phone against something, etc?

Once it has lost it, does the phone immediately find a signal again afterwards or is this also patchy?

My Nokia 9310 used to do this all the time......never fixed it!

Most phone manufacturers support a SW download from thier website which does not affect stored data

I cant make the phone cut out at all.
Once the phone call cuts off then i have to redial the person again, which is driving me nuts at the moment >:(

How can you complain about the iPhone & HTC Touch Pro being big if you had 9310? Those things are like bricks, almost twice the weight of the iPhone...

 :-? :-?

iPhone Dimensions - 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm

Nokia 9210 (same crappy flip) - 158 x 56 x 27 mm

The HTC iTouch Pro which i plan to get... which you also said was to big..

102 x 51 x 18.1 mm

The 9210 weighs 244g, which is over 110g more than the iPhone, HTC comes in at around 160g.

The Nokia was a brick, and should have been used to build houses!

The Nokia is twice as thick, and twice the weight, how can it be smaller?  :-?

Tunnie - now forgetting for a mo I quite fancy HTC Touch, being a long time HTC user anyway - comparing the gayPhone 3Gays released this year with Nokia 9310 released around 5yrs ago isn't that fair.  Esp when the older one beats it on cellular performance.  And battery life.

The gayPhone may initially seem 'cool', but in day to day use, you find it is very rough around the edges, even with the current firmware.

Not comparing them, that is unfair, but MrDTM was saying it was smaller!

I don't like the way you have to jail break the iphone to get applications not on the app store onto the phone too.

Defo HTC Pro for me, much more flexible, also means it can do nearly all my on-call stuff on it.

Ahh, <penny drops> a proper phone! No "Gay" cameras, colour displays, malware running capabilities, etc.

Makes calls, does SMS, Job's a good'un.  :y
