X reg will not be affected by new tax rules, as long as the log book says its registered BEFORE 1st March 2001

Check for coolant changes, biggest problem on the 2.2's is the head gaskets going at around 100k because people don't change the anti-freeze

check cambet was done, usual 40k /4year rule.

Camsensors tend to go, but thats a real easy £40 job.

The 2.2's are very solid engines nothing really goes wrong with them.

Check the thin breather pipe on the drivers side, that often gets blocked.

Regular oil changes do wonders for the 4 pots.

Definatly sounds like clutch pressure plate failure.

Don't buy it unless you get it for £500.

Go on, what have you got to lose?
