hrs of work
« on: 03 October 2008, 22:53:59 »

ive calculated by sunday i will of done 98 hrs, but will get paid for 127hrs. monday i have to do a straight 24 hr shift, ive been doing shopfitting for about 20 yrs now and the time limits seem to get smaller and smaller.

this is what i do, you can imagine how hard it can be humping 10ft sheets of 18mm mdf up and down stairs all day, my feet are killing me at the moment, aching like break.

i strolled into the office at around 9:40, had a lunch with the Operations Director / Finance Director / Infrastructure Director, about 3 others and me.

Left for lunch at 12:20, got nicely drunk, we consumed 4 bottles of wine at a Morrocon restaurant,  got back in the office at 3pm.

Then sold some stuff on eBay in the afternoon.

Then a beer after work.

Busy day  :)

When I was a field manager in the retail trade my contract stated "the hours worked will be as the business requires" i.e. No limit and it was the norm to work in excess of 70 hours including working in the office at home!! :'( :'(

It was a killer with a family to bring up as well,  Would not do it again and it would now be considered illegal to force an employee to work over 48 hours as I understand of modern legislation :y :y :y

Not much of a home life then :( I have know lots of people, over the years, that seem to live to work, rather than work to live, and not all of them earned lots of money doing so. ::)

Oh the salary and 'perks' was very good in the end, and especially when that office in the home finally went!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) n

But you are right it could ruin home life, especially with my ex being in the same business, with you never being able to escape the pressure of constant demands on your skills and time!! ::) ::)

i'll jump in my truck at 430 monday and may be home by dinnertime. but may not see home until saturday teatime. that is when work takes over your life. but hey i'm dieseldean and i've got diesel in my viens and couldn't possibly work under a roof that is within spitting distance of a boss or i'd get myself fired.
