Hmmm, not too sure I want a bodged bumper.  Imagine if I had a slight bump in Sainsburys for example and the filler cracked and fell out?  This would never happen if the bumper was replaced (new or breaker sourced)

The lady more or less jut forced me to accept a bodge repair, but I argued and asked for a new bumper.  She said she'll speak to her boss about it, but if he's got any decency about him he'll do the right thing and replace.

I'd tell them you want a warranty on the repair too. Just to plant the seed that if they bodge it and it's not acceptable you'll be back.

There are differing degrees of 'bodged'.  I agree that a couple of pounds of filler is likely to fall out but a proper plastic welded etc repair wont.

I would certainly suggest, as a compromise to the bodged versus new part argument, a respectable second hand item, suitably painted.  that way, there may be room for manouevre as regards additional wee touch ins, seeing as they are already mixing paint?  Not suggesting a complete respray for free by any manner of means, but, if you are prepared to be flexible, perhaps the garage could as well....   ;)

Thanks for your input chaps!

Spoke to my dad that evening and he advised I request a headed letter which documents exactly what happened and what they propose to do about it.

Since returning and having x2 Conti 3's fitted for my MOT the director of the company wrote a letter as above and offered to replace the bumper and number plate and includes a warranty for the life of the car until I sell it on  :)

Happy ending in the end but could have been worse if they denied it ever occurred.

Cheers
