Cam Cover Gaskets
« on: 03 October 2008, 17:34:09 »

Went to VX last week to get the bits, didn't have any in, so ordered them...

roughly how much should this lot come to?  (inc Vat)

    * Rocker gaskets: 90511451, one set per bank (£25+ Vat retail)
    * O-rings: 90411826, 8 per bank (13p+ VAT retail)
    * Gasket, Inlet bridge to head: 90501652, 2 off
    * Gasket, Inlet to Inlet bridge: 90501653, 3 off
    * Gasket, Inlet to Plenum O rings: 9118135, 6 off
    * Sealent, Black (not the Green stuff!): 90485251, 1 off

Any guesses?  Because I sent the missus to pick them up (armed with TC) and I know how much she handed over...  :o

Shelled out for the lot last month. Since replacing one bank have discovered a crack in the cover so will have to repeat the job. Had to be the left bank as well, typical. Personally i think like you its best toreplace all the seals as they will have been on from new & to not have them & lose the car for two days is not worth the hassle.
Good luck.

I'll find out tomorrow - just need to get someone to fit them then (bad back prevents leaning over)

Fine John, thanks. I've retired at the grand old age of 55 and I intend to enjoy it.  :y

Over £200, and after picking herself off the floor, they requoted her £187.

Hopefully I'll be able to take some of that back.   :)

Agreed - but I thought, hmmm, gaskets - they're fairly small, so they'll not be *that* much, probably...   :o

Take note people!!  Read the Guides!!  Heed their advice!!

Hmmm... I did mine before I read the guide. I got sold the green stuff. Does this mean I need to get the black stuff and do again?

Hence (when in stock) why the shop gasket kits are such good value
