Both the Monaro and the M5 are simply droolworthy.

I'm seriously considering that Monaro right now.

Thing is, if i got the 5.7, i would always wish i got the 6.0 VXR.

I think the 6's look a lot better, they are slightly more, but still utterly stunning i think  :)

I agree, but that car, with that mileage is an absolutley incredible price.

If we start getting into the 6 litre cars then I'd want to go all the way. There was someone on here who's brother had a 6 with a Wortek SC on it that was creating 500+ bhp.

Couldn't agree more with you though on your comment about the 6, but that 5.7 is still a beautiful car for the money.

I'd buy the warranty transfer too though; at £300 it is well worth it.

Buying price is just like an entry card with one of those cars, been there! I know a guy with an M5 and the yearly spend on tyres alone is eye watering... and some scrotes nicked his front bumper  >:(

I'd rather have a classic that I could maintain myself (like my 635  [smiley=beer.gif] )

i was searching around last night on auto trader for a bit of fun, for the same price you can get a BMW M5...

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/BMW+M5/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-88-91-240-4294963647-4294967202/advert.action?R=200839319519145&distance=54&postcode=nn13+6er&channel=CARS&make=BMW&model=M5&min_pr=9000&max_pr=11000&max_mileage=

Why does anyone spend 20k on a Mondeo when you can have that!

Its not affected by tax either!  :D

Tunnie , you will need a fuel shop too ;D

Here, they are also crazy cheap (models 2000,2001) :o the reason is,

in city traffic they spend enormous fuel 17-18 liter /100 km..And when I hear prices for the parts I gave up.. ;D

However if you can afford it and plan to use only on weekends it may

sound logical.. :y

But the M5 has 90,000 miles on it, is approaching 9 years old. OK performance great.
The Monaro was same price 35,000 miles on it and 4 to 5 years old but will have higher tax to pay.
I would expect the older higher mileage car to require more maintenace and more expensive parts than the newer one.

Having that kind of money to spend on a plaything, it has to be the Monaro, because it is rarer, probably more fun and will get more admiring glances.

Just my useless opinion.

i would have to see if my snowboard bag would fit in either, i could easily live with a Monaro as my daily drive!

Yeah, that's the kind of thing that I would consider if I were planning a massive upgrade from the miggy.  The problem is that it is more of an upgrade in cost than in value.

What other W and X reg cars similar to the miggy might be tempting?  Ones where the price is dropping due to fuel costs, but before the tax rise.

Audi A6 / A8

Jag XK/XJ
The A6 is a nice car, but doesn't handle very well and is a bit of an old design now.  The A8 is quite good, but doesn't have enough headroom.

Might look into an XJ.  Saw a really nice N-reg XJR yesterday.  Thought they were unreliable and expensive to maintain though?
