Think i am set for Holland...
« on: 06 October 2008, 22:19:37 »

Driving to Holland on Friday, back on Monday, will be just under 1k miles in total i suspect, given the car the once over, checked all the fluids, had an oil change about 1k ago, it will get one as soon as i get back.

Insurance (£18)
Breakdown cover sorted
Ferry booked
Campsite check out

Legal wise for driving all sorted

Green Card
Warning Triangle
Hi Vis Jackets (now law in France)
set of bulbs
Haynes book of b00lox
assortment of most common spanners and sockets
some water
Spare (slighty suspect, but works) Cam Sensor

Sat Nav with European maps

Got loads of camping gear, weather on long range for cast looks ok.

I am glad i got a big car, its going to be a squeeze with all the snowboarding gear.

FFS, it was nice and out of the way stuffed in with the spare wheel.

My English plates should be ok, got the GB thingy at the front.

Also going into Dunkirk which is not quite as busy, so fingers crossed.

Can you go snowboarding in Holland? I thought it was as flat as East Anglia.

I have never been snowboarding so excuse my ignorance if I'm being a numpty.

I have mine in the seatback pocket.

GB sticker goes on the boot silly!

Check your tire pressures, and before you start back.  Picked up a nail, maybe on the ferry, when we went a few weeks ago.

Otherwise, no worries!  :y

Haynes book of b00lox

Glad you didn't forget that. I find it very useful when I can't find a flat surface for the jack to sit on.

Take plenty of warm bedding. It won't be desperately warm in a tent at night this time of year.

Have fun.

Unless I'm mistaken, if you have the GB integrated into the Euro star symbol on at least the back number plate that complies with the regs. (not strictly necessary on the front).

The first and second roundabout after getting off ferry is where the Police are usually.

Then when coming back over the border to France they hang about there but, as long a you keep to the speed limits and if you get stopped be polite you will have no problems.

I have been stopped dozens of times and never had a problem at all.

Enjoy the trip.. :y
