The biggest downfall of the Carlton/Senator was GM decision to change what was a bullet proof engine.......

When they introduced the 24V they decided in their wisdom to try lighten the weight...good plan in theory!
Alloy head on a cast block.......Single chains....too much ECU managment gizmo's!

The Monza ran perfectly with full cast,duplex chain and no electronics apart from the LE jetronic injection system
the 24v is a good engine but too many weak points i think...

GM obviously didn't take the old 'Aint broken,don't fix it' approach
