ABS discount.
« on: 16 October 2008, 21:20:21 »

Today, I went to Vx dealer to buy some vital fluids for my car. How I was surprised when I saw the bill. It was £63 instead of ca £40 with AutoBahnStormers card. I asked nicely what is the discount level on oil, coolant and brake fluid and was told "trade gets 10% off".
Last time I was there I got about 50% off oil, but now was told that no one can get more than 10% off.
I shouldn't really use the BlueBook from ABS as it was issued in 2005 and I know that it's too old to argue about discounts.
Can you please tell me if all discount levels were discussed directly with Vx or is it just a good will of particular Vx dealer?
Is there any document that states this?

I posted this question on ABS forum, but as you know it's off now.

If your ABS membership card is still valid, you should get TC prices.  Go see them again.

I had issues at my favourite dealer, giving me trade instead of TC prices, but they did refund when I went back in.

My Vx dealer parts dept gives me varying discounts, some up to 60% and when my ABS TC does not cover what I am buying, they give me trade discount of at least 10%, so I think I can be happy with that! :D :y

ABS forum is working fine for me .. and the tradeclub site still lists major savings for TC use on buying oil ... I know someone said the prices were going up .. but I don't believe by that much ...

for 10w40 semi-syth

Part No.        Retail Price        Normal Trade        Trade Club

5 litres        93165216        £25.65        £18.81        £10.77

and on the 4 for 3 offer :

Semi synthetic 10W40
5 litre part number 93165216
Offer price for four cans £28.53       Equivalent to £1.43/litre

Trade is a different level of discount.

Trade Club is the higer level of discount.

All ways worth getting confermation of prices on here or looking it up for yourself on thier website and making yourself a printout. :y

TC discounts are higher than Trade discounts.

Not all items are available on TC though, in which case it is the dealer's discretion whether to give standard Trade discount. Mine did...

In fact they were quite happy to service the car at full labour cost, but bill for any parts and fluids at TC/Trade costs. That was when I was still trying to keep the book stamped, that it...

Latest price of oil is £27.54 net for 5l 10w40. I paid £24.62 net. it went up few weeks ago.
I already had a discussion with Vx Basingstoke (JDavy) about it. I informed them that Trade Club Card owner gets more than a normal Trade. It was ok until one of managers was surprised that I get min 10% of everything plus TC discount. Today, he was looking at seller hands and he told me that I can only get 10% off. He had seen my card before and today.
I can go and argue about TC discount, but they've already said before, that I need to show any document that can prove discount levels. Otherwise it's same old thing with every other manager, that thinks I am trying to fool them.
I want to send then an e-mail, but firs I want to be sure, what discount do we have.  BlueBook is just too old.

P.S. What ABS address do you use? When i try www.autobahnstormers.org i get this

go to the trade club website and see if your local dealer is listed, if it is they should be giving you proper discount

if they dont want to, make them ring "trade club link line" to confirm your entitlement

Looks like they had a dns issue (have they just changed registrar?).

Start > Run > cmd

in command prompt, type:

ipconfig /flushdns

then try again.

what's the address and do I need an account and password, other than ABS one?
I tried TheBoy's method but no success. Will try to reboot modem and log again - maybe this will help.

Update - modem reboot didn't help...:( Will try again tomorrow.
