bodge of the day....
« on: 17 October 2008, 18:30:39 »

Jaime kindly lent me his Vax, as i have water in the rear passenger footwell.

Gave it another Vax-out today, got a good 2-3 cup fulls, i think cause my mates feet were on it for about 10 hours in total so it would have pulled some of it up.

I am sure its not the scuttle, its perfectly clear, 1.5L goes straight through. Passenger front footwell is dry, underneath the seat its bone dry too.

Most likey cause is the door seal, i was wondeirng what to do, i know i could take the carpets up and trim off, but hey, i am an x-student remember.

So bit of a bodge...

The door is never really opened, so i guess if i leave that for a while, if any water is getting through the seal, i will see it in the thin paper.

Even if i miss the leak, and it drys, i should be able to spot it.

Speak for yourself!  When I was a student I had a problem with my battery going flat.  I had a dead old crap 12v battery kicking about so I used to charge that in my dorms, take it down to the car in the morning, pop the bonnet and jump start myself every day till I could afford a new battery.   ;D

Yep. Been there. :y

When my Dad was at Uni he even went as far as getting some conc. sulphuric acid from the chemistry department to help it along a little. Before he got round to diluting it he spilt it, and it went through his carpet and started on the concrete floor of his halls of residence. ;D

I used to have 2 batteries on the go... One fully charged at all times! I worked nights and had a 40 mile drive to do with a knackered alternator so got very good at swapping the batteries over in the dark :o ::) :-[
