Car Window Fitting In Heavy Rain
« on: 24 October 2008, 14:47:55 »

Anyone had replacement glass fitted in their car in the rain  ::)

Some little ba$tard thieving junkie from new Labours Britain decided to put a brick through the Jag window during the week. They even left the brick in the car.

Police are not intrested.

Side window smashed and huge crack on front one althou its still in place...

Cant get it replaced until tomorrow and its forcast to be HEAVY constant rain.

Anyone got a clue how long a nearside window and front screen will take ( leaving the Jag exposed and naked to the elements)

All my Garages are all full of cars without wheels  :-/ so its gotta be done outside as Autoglass dont have a dept within 30miles of me and i cant drive the Jag

scumbags  >:(

Thats the trouble these days, law is useless, watching Road Wars, scumbags that steal cars and trash them just get a slap on the wrist, suspended sentenses, or community service.

They should beat the crap out of them and shove them in prison, teach them some respect!

Not got a garage Markie?

I`ve got 4 garages now Tunnie.......but there not for running automobiles  ;D

Yep I callled the Police at the scene, brick still in car etc. They second guessed where i was as there had been 2 or 3 cars reported that same night ( it was only 830pm in a well lit carpark on a main road!)

Despite this mini crime spree they still havent ( may not) allocate it to an officer. I havent kicked up and I wont.

This is Britain this is now what we are used to. Like it Live with it or move out of it is my philosophy now  :'(

They are compelled to get a PC to deal with this! It's a crime, and as such, should be treated as one, and investigated thoroughly.

You pay your taxes and you have an absolute right to expect this. Yes ok, Police may have serious crimes to deal with and it may take a little longer than you like, but the "service" you pay for should be delievered.

They should have an officer collecting evidence, looking for CCTV, campaigning for witnesses to come forwards etc, in addition a Scene of crime officer should attend at the first possible opportunity to collect foresics from your car.

If the (assuming here) phone monkey or PC you spoke too wasn't interested, I would call or visit the nearest nick, demand to speak to a PC. If no luck, demand the Duty Sergeant. If still no luck, tell them you'll take their collar numbers and contact their Professional Standards Dept. over their neglect of duty.

Then watch how quickly you get a panda car around!! ;D

In all reality - it only takes one person on the end of a phone who can't be bothered, it results in feelings such as yours, and has the effect of giving the Police service a bad name, through a very small minority.

James, Ive got no issue with the Police, we have all been disgusted by lack of response to car crime, petty crime, Breach and so on...etc.

Remember i come from a very pro police family and Dad was a senior traffic officer until recent years. I have no issue with the Police as its  not the boys in blue thats the problem as at the end of the day they are following orders on what to tackle and how.

Divisional Commanders etc, I am sure, have budget and manpower issues combined by know it all civil servants and Home Office wanting to control them.

Im pretty much exasperated by this country, so nothing really gets on my wick any more, ie nothing surprises or disgusts me. I`m tired of shouting and the revolutions not coming  ;D

Dont know about the rest of the country but in Strathclyde you actually speak to a centralised contact centre and an advisor that books in your "report" when you call your local police station, its then forwarded to an officer at the local station.

And whilst every one is very polite they have advised " i can bin the brick" as they wont get prints, they already know there was no cctv and unless "someone leaves a note on your car advising they saw it" theres not much they can do.

Its society thats the problem, not the Police.

Agree for the most - but I personally still think there is a problem with some lazy officers. Contact centres are also a problem - if you attended in person and insisted on making a complaint, you would probably get a better reaction..

If they don't attend and take reasonable measures to investigate it, (especially as you say it was a spree, not just your car) then regardless of their priorities set by the government, it's a neglect of duty in my eyes, which is a Police failing...

I know, but from a personal point of view my insurance is fixing the windows and due to a cock up by them i`ve managed to get the excess for glass waived.

Additionally my front screen had developed a hairline crack inside it anyway, the way i look at it is i was resigned to paying my £60 to fix this anyway.

All the idiot that caused the damage the other day has achieved is saving my £60 ;)

....i just hope the monsoon thats forecast holds off....

So its the day of reckoning.

We have intermittant rain and the autoglass depo 35 miles away have called to cancel ( citing health and safety) Wonder how they know what my weather is like without asking..... :-X

Anyway due to other commitments i am now going to be 11 days without the Jag due to a broken window - thanks "More Than" i reckon they should be called " decidedly less than"

The " technician" asked if i could drive the Jag to them 35 miles away to do it in their workshop.....or even TOW it!!!!

Waiting on a cortesy car now....boy is that going to be fun  >:(
