I think we're in trouble whichever way the US vote, TBH. I would have been the first to say that it can't get any worse than "Dubya" but at least a lame duck is relatively harmless in comparison to some of the stuff that's been bounced around during this campaign.

Yes, good question!  President Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and was assisinated in the Ford Theatre, Washington on 14th April 1865.

He was shot in the theatre but was taken to the Barbers accross the road where he died........ ok I'll shut up now....

I really do not want to think that awful thought , but watching the news about neo-Nazis planning such an event, and noting the feelings being expressed by all too many "all white Americans" especially in the 'South' I do seriously fear it!!

..........yes as JFK died in Dallas Hospital, but in both cases the actual act of assisination took place in the Ford Theatre, Washington, and outside the Depository in Dallas respectively.

Scary really. I've always said that the person we need as a PM is someone who needs to be dragged into No10 kicking and screaming "But I don't want to be PM!". "Yes", say the press-gang, "But you're the best person for the job, whether you like it or not!"

These days, especially, the advent of career politicians means that we end up being governed by people whose whose driving ambition is to govern. Would you really vote for someone who said "My sole interest is to control you"?
