I have a question!!!!!!!!!
« on: 30 October 2008, 20:25:01 »

Right the idea of buying a bigger car (i.e Range Rover/Discovery) was because Jue nearly had an accident towing another miggy on an A frame back from Devon a couple of days ago (when it was snowing and icy).

Answer: Bigger more stable car.

Only thing is, this Range Rover (Vogue SE 3.9 LPG converted) has a gearbox problem.., and is in Pembrokshire (I daren't look and see if there are any mountains to be honest).  So wonder if there are any bets on if Jue is gonna be taking up permanent residence in a Range Rover stuck at the bottom of a mountain somewhere lol?

Don't worry will make sure he leaves with survival gear, food and water for a few weeks.

depending on where in Pembrokeshire it is it should be an easy journey up the M4 and keep on going, took about 30-45 mins from Swansea no mountains in the way :y

M4 is easiest if you want a flat run but shorter is to comeover my way and go up the 'heads of the valley'  ;)

if you need a petrol top up on your way down or up, junct 44 (careful of the 30mph speed camera as you come off the 1st turn off of the jnct roundabout if coming from Cardiff way) follow the road all the way down to the roundabout, esso and asda petrol at same price 94.9 (last time i filled up) tesco is also not far as well (but i find their petrol has lumps in) :y
there is a BP but they are a few pence more

Be warned Juu... They aren't light! Or easy! IIRCC there's a couple of awkward bellhousing bolts right at the top. Easiest way is with about 2' of extension bar!

If you're changing it at the side of the road then I'd suggest a couple of good trolley jacks and make sure you stay clear of it! You can get a Rangie up on ramps on one side if you have them available which might give you enough clearance to get the box out and in but be warned that those LPG tanks can make access a little awkward!

Probably easiest to split transfer box from gearbox before removal and after fitting as it'll take a lot of weight away! They take about 9L of Dextron 2 (I think) and have to be filled through the dipstick tube.

Good luck!
