Lo Fi Version of OOF.
« on: 14 July 2008, 11:54:20 »

Guessing I allready know the answer to this one, but going to ask it anyway.

How easy would it be to have a Lo Fi version of this site, for PDA and Mobile devices.??

Example

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showforum=17

Click on Lo Fi at bottom of page.

Its something I would like - I'm often using my phone - but we do not have enough mobile users to warrant the massive amount of extra work (initial, and ongoing)

Hmm, shame, I quiet often use my Exec PDA, realy does run slow even at 3g speeds.

I assume if your using your Phone a lot TB, you know about the T Mobile 50p a day unlimited access trick?.

I use my mobile all the time for oof... In fact, I am now! That's why some of my posts have random words in them!

I do find it a little frustrating sometimes when I can't view a thread because of massive signature images or avatars... Although this has improved somewhat now! :y :y :y

Oh, and 3 do unlimited browsing for £5/month... Just as well really! ::) ::) :y :y

We have guidelines at the top of every board that states things such as sig/avatar sizes, so that should have helped.  There are still a few (avatars in particular) that are a large download.

Be carefull with that one, a friend of mine got a bill from 3 for over 700 quid, he was on the 'so called' £5 pm for 'Unlimited'. 3 decided 1.4 Gb download was enough and charged him £1 per 1Mb there after for the rest of the month.

Think he did about 2gb in total, imaging hes bill if was arround 5 or 6 gb!!.

He found out the £1 per Mb, was in the small print, but the Unlimited bit was just worded as 'fair use policy'.

I don't find the site particularly useable on my Axim running WM5 but then that's me being a lazy arse and not waiting for my laptop to boot / wanting to check the help guides while i'm working outside on the car!

You'll find you'll start eyeing up more blokes, seeing as Apple was recently voted the most gay friendly brand...

I checked with them when I took it out... They have set "fair use" at 30mb for me! Mind you... I get preferential staff rates anyway! :y :y :y
