Dirty low down snake of a driver
« on: 05 November 2008, 13:01:45 »

I just walked up town & cut through the shops to see about five women all pointing & talking about this 55 plate Subaru Prezza parked on the side of the road. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about until i got to the car, a massive graze down the passenger door, as i walked passed the women i heard one say that an old bloke in a black car had just reversed around the corner & smashed into the Prezza, but drove off. Low down trick who ever you are.
So now someones gotta nasty suprize & bill, it'll be a new door for sure. Seems common courtesy is missing in every generation & not just (as most think) the young.

Some of the older  drivers are very unaware of road conditions.
It can be quite common for some geriatric old coffin dodger to reverse into parked cars ...go through red lights....drive on the wrong side of the road.....and then wipe out a whole group of school kids at the bus stop and yet be totally oblivious to any wrong doings. : :-/ :-/y :y
I think that we have all had problems with some old drivers at one time or another. :y :y :y

Sounds a bit like my Grandad before he passsed away. I once had to point out that the motorway lane he was tanking along had been coned off about 400 yds ahead. I think he decided his cataracts were getting a bit too bad at that point. Like most old duffers he didn't care much about speed. As long as it was into 3 figures he was happy. :o No mean feat in a Volvo 340GL either. ;D

I'm all for every ten years we all take a re-test. Not a proper passing the first test scenario, just a competent to drive one, this would reduce accidents & get alot of vehicles off the roads. Though for now we'll just have speed greed cameras that don't catch bad drivers >:( >:( >:(

About 4 yrs ago an old guy ( 70ish) who lived somewhere off our lane  in winter knocked at our door we have a longish driveway fit 2/3 cars in drive  & one to side by the gate , daughters car was there! he said he had driven on an icey patch & spun & knocked our gate of its hinges (i had removed the tack weld from top for some reason)  we then picked up the gate but in doing so noticed it had bounced on her car bonnet punched a hole through it with one of the ends then dived on the floor in the snow, hell was we grateful he had stopped & told us we never saw or heard anything (Sunday morning very icey ) So it was  sadly a biggish claim on his insurance instead of a few quid just to repair gate, wonder if he would have stopped though if he new he had damaged her car ? we'll say yes he was nice old gimmer...
In contrast she was stopped at a zebra xing when bang a Vectra ploughs into her rear  young guy 20ish coolly reverses & fooks off she got his number as did several peeps who saw it, police followed it up the car belonged to no one the last owner claiming to have sold it in Autotrader a month earlier, police couldnt follow it any further as a dead end so it was a big claim & loss of some NCD for her as well as having neck problems ever since. >:(
